Educators as Mentors

Image
Each day , sometimes without knowing, we mentor our students. How do we do that? We ensure their needs are met. We answer their questions. We check in with our students. We guide them in a direction. We role model great relationships with our colleagues. We assess their readiness for the next step... We assist them in creating plans and goals.  We have an, " I make my own weather, ' attitude.  We are tough when they need us to be.  Thanks for being  mentors to our students. Happening s Nicole's son Nicholas woke up at 2:00 Sunday morning with a stomach ache. By 2:00 Sunday afternoon, Nicholas had his appendix out. We are thankful Nicole and Gary acted quickly, as that hour and a half drive could have been a problem, if his appendix burst. All is well today because they knew he needed a doctor. Thank goodness for excellent medical care in High Level. Thanks to Marc and Nancy who stayed with Gary and Nicole through the operation. I saw Nicholas last nigh

Springing Forward

We need to model to our students that there are times we may fall back, but we always endeavor to spring forward. This week a student found herself without a place to live. She approached her problem with calm and figured it out. Her solution was only temporary, however, she now has the time to put a plan in place, move forward! Imagine being homeless, I have never been homeless... I can't imagine it. hmmm As role models to these students, speaking positive words assists them in solving problems calmly and intelligently. Thanks for being positive role models and mentors to our students.  Congrats to You Congrats to Eva, as her son Shane will be going to Provincials in Edson for basketball.  Congrats to Jenine whose daughter Alyanna is ready to have her own classroom. Soon we will find out where we will be teaching. Whoever gets her will get a Superstar!! Congrats to Eva and Petra whose boys will both be graduating this year. Such a celebration for you b

Wow, what we learn when we just take a minute to chat with our kids.  What I learned this week: one student is planning on moving to Kelowna to pursue his education one student thinks he found his biological Dad this week. He just did DNA testing one student is moving to Bolivia one student is getting a new phone as hers was left outside another student is applying to University of Alberta and U BC for engineering another student is applying for bursaries one student registered with us after going to Amiskwaciy School. He loved that school as they had a cultural focus. If you just sit there long enough they start to talk. So much going on with our students. Compliments to You I met with central office staff on Thursday for my evaluation and they asked me to pass on compliments to you all as staff. They said thank you for filling out the direct report survey on me. They appreciate you taking the time to give lots of valuable information. They also complimented yo
