Better

Image
"and they create a trajectory that’s better"  -Obama- from the Goalkeepers Conference in New York Each day we  try to create a trajectory that is better for our students and oursleves. On Friday, Dylan Wiliam spoke about " better." Most every educator in existence wants this for themselves and for their students. Imagine what could be accomplished with this,  "better culture." It's simple, we do it already, we want to be better and want our students to be better too. Obama spoke of trajectory, we realize it can be a swirly trajectory, never the less, it is a move forward trajectory.  So, here we are on Monday and you are starting to read this blog, my hope is... that the word better enters your mind once or twice this week.  Thank  you for making things better. Thank you Thank you to Jenine, Eva, Bonnie and Janet  Forrest for getting our numbers in to central. This week we will need all numbers by Wednesday except Zama...

Stories

This is the best story I have read in a while!! It is at the High Level Library! Excellent Read! Think about it... our days are spent telling stories. When we stop and chat with a friend in the grocery store, we tell a story or two. When we call family, we listen to a story and tell  stories. Each day has it's own story to be told.  This weekend, I attended a friends 60th birthday celebration. I must have told 20 stories about my kids, High level and the summer fun we had. In turn, I must have listened to 30 stories. Think about it, our days are wrapped around the stories we tell each other. The same is true with students. There is a story for their weekend, a story about work or a story about friends. Sometimes, they even tell them to us... That's an honor to be chosen as the listener of one of their stories.  Have a story filled week. This is the story of couples finances. A very good book for couples at any age!! Smart things coup...

First full Week

As a welcome to our new employee Levi, I will centre our theme around the Montreal Canadiens!! After checking in with each location this week, we note a rise in student numbers from last year at this time. That's good news for the students, they are where they need to be,  lovely news for us as our staffing numbers won't be changing.  I recall starting with the division, after my first year, I was transferred from Meander to FloMac . I went in and set my classroom, put  bulletin boards up, moved in all my books, then was told I was moving back to Meander as numbers didn't warrant me staying at FMCS. Ugh!  Truth is, student numbers drive staffing and I am so happy to say, to date our numbers are at, or near projections in all schools.  La Crete- 32 students projected 35 High Level- 44 projected 49 Fort Vermilion- Not opened yet but 1 students with 4 projected Rainbow- 3 students with 2 projected.  Zama- 6 students proje...

Working Together...

Image
Students sense whether the staff of the school they walk into is cohesive and actually cares. They can tell in about a minute. You or I can tell in about ten seconds. I want to thank you for realising that we are all educators who are working toward the same goals- moving students toward graduation and building better people.  Together we got this! This week We require numbers by noon today. I know it loos scary in an Outreach school but no worries our students always come. Zama numbers should be around 4. We can only send in the faces we have seen before today or see today.  We are pleased to announce a new arrival to the Learning Stores. Levi Pardy will join our staff as an Educational assistant in Fort Vermilion. Together, Levi, Alex, darren and I are going to shake the sugar trees and awaken all the sleepy teenagers who arent attending school in Fort. Levi starts tomorrow and will come with me to La Crete to start his training. He will be a...
