Working Together...
Students sense whether the staff of the school they walk into is cohesive and actually cares. They can tell in about a minute. You or I can tell in about ten seconds. I want to thank you for realising that we are all educators who are working toward the same goals- moving students toward graduation and building better people.
Together we got this!
This week
- We require numbers by noon today. I know it loos scary in an Outreach school but no worries our students always come. Zama numbers should be around 4. We can only send in the faces we have seen before today or see today.
- We are pleased to announce a new arrival to the Learning Stores. Levi Pardy will join our staff as an Educational assistant in Fort Vermilion. Together, Levi, Alex, darren and I are going to shake the sugar trees and awaken all the sleepy teenagers who arent attending school in Fort. Levi starts tomorrow and will come with me to La Crete to start his training. He will be a tremendous asset to our staff. Welcome Levi!
- We must say it like this- Teachers do not get one hour for lunch- they get a half hour lunch and a half hour unassigned time. That is how it works at Outreach.
- Student contact- It is so important to make your first contact with these students a great one. They need to know they can do anything. Just think of our Logan who took math 30-1 "4" times and that boy is attending the U of A. No that is perseverance. One of the first female doctors took her medical test over 21 times to become a doctor. Stick to it you can do it. So what, if it takes you 22 times!!
- Think about the students you are seeing come into your schools today and where they might fit on the intervention pyramid. If there are students who need intervention quickly you know to contact me if its serious.
Staffing
Staff in Manitoba only start this week in their schools- two PD days then kids on Thursday. Amazing how provinces differ.
We welcome back Janet Forrest! Talk about perseverance, this lady is the epitome of perseverance.
Mark and I are soooo thrilled to have you back.

Congrats to Jenine and Randy. Their daughter Alyana is engaged to Jessie. No date set yet, as Alyana is busy beginning her first year of teaching today!!!
Happy Birthday to Bonnie! This girl keeps getting older but looking younger, not fair I say!
Hugs to Petra, like many moms, she dropped her son off at University this week. Tristan will rock University, those kids are his kind of people.
Darren has one more month till he's a dad to three kids and I will tell you that is different, but so much fun. I remember the time all three of my kids cried at once, it was memorable! One month to go Darren and Desiree.
Both Eva and Mark have kids who graduate this year. It will be a big year for them both!
So enjoy your week.
It is important to start our school year well. Let me know if you need anything.
Anne
