Wow! Such an Interesting End to a School Year
Such an interesting end to a school year! So much student, parent contact, it's nice actually!
Lots of things to consider this week:
- Some of our kids went through trauma when they were evacuated, no everyone stayed in hotels with pools. Mental Health has ramped up their presence in town.
- Some kids are still out on evacuation, that's the Paddle Prairie crew. That is two of our graduates.
- There is a Mennonite holiday for two days, Monday and Tuesday.
- all grad details need to be finalized in the next two days. All grads are proceeding unchanged except for High Level who has dropped the meal.
- We purchase a hoodie for each grad. If your grad doesn't have one email me we will get them for you.
- EA contracts will be drawn up today. I will email them to you. Please scan them back to
- If you are feeling you have down time we are reorganizing courses there will be a list of things we need to do to make that happen. We can all chip in to have this organized for next year. I know it wont happen this week but in the weeks to come perhaps.
- Final parties- all school division schools are having their year end parties on June 21st. With us we have five wind downs that I would like to attend. So today we finalize when each one will be. Year end awards proceed as normal.
- New schedules- Staff can work a four hour day. That's up to you. We just need the school covered.
- Diplomas- Today will be finding out from schools who is writing a diploma. They will send a supervisor over to supervise it if one of our kids isn't writing. We just don't have the manpower to man each school with a teacher.
- Work experience= Please note if we are going to use any work experience hours over the summer they need to be supervised by a teacher. John Thurston has been hired on by the school division to do just that. I sent out a spread sheet where you add your kids to it. Please take the time to do that or any hour accumulated over the summer will not be allowed unless you supervise that location. John will be fabulous in this role. I just signed up a student.
- Outdoor classroom received a $6000 matching grant form the fort vermilion school division. Blast will build our deck for us in September with our kids helping. We can follow through with the plans the students have created. We have the means to do so now. The evacuation set up back big time killing all the seedlings plus now we have no kids. So it will look different this year. we will put in lots of potatoes and peas and flowers for the bees. Next year it will be a real outdoor classroom.
- Days off- If you are planning on taking days off please put in for them now. Just so we know what our manpower looks like.
- I know I'm leaving out somethings... just email me and i'll send out a note.
Staffing
- Chris Squires has returned to Newfoundland to assist with his daughter. That leaves High Level very short handed. We will see how we do this week. Holly from High Level Public has helped us out marking etc...And Holly Isaacs has stood on her head getting these kids to graduation without the assistance of a teacher. She's a rockstar in our eyes.
- Eva is out for the next two days as is Martha La Crete's custodian.
- With Chris gone I will likely go to Rainbow and Fort in afternoons. La Crete I'm going to leave you in Chad's capable hands for this week.
- Tuesday Fort- PM
- Thursday Rainbow- PM
