Some stats/info for you:

There are five schools that we work with:
Rainbow Lake learning Store, High Level Learning Store, La Crete Learning Store, Fort Vermilion Learning Store and Northern Home Education.
All schools are open full time with the exception of Fort which is opened Monday to Thursday.
There are twelve staff on our team plus 4 custodians who each work  an hour a day on average.
Each staff member has their strengths. Things I am not good at, Chad seems to be excellent at, visa versa. That makes for a great admin team. This holds true in our buildings, we all work in all the subject areas however someone may be considered the expert and is more knowledgeable. We are strive to be knowledgeable in all the subject areas. In High Level that is just a given, we have no math/science assistance.
Chad has developed a calendar that he will share with you outlining who is where when. High Level needs the Math/Sciences help, we have held our students back long enough. Thankfully, help is on the way. One day a week a math teacher will come to High Level. One week it will be Linda and one week it will be Annelise.
Our student population in Learning Stores is  approximately 170 students.
10 students could be deemed inactive.
Home Education serves approximately 290 students.
Each school held or is  holding parent teacher interviews.
The needs of each school are totally different. Some schools have students register with only 6 credits. These students are 19 and want to graduate. They can with a lot of hard work on their part and on ours. We love 19 year olds, they are just smarter humans!! Some schools have students who have been dumbed down to dash 4 because of poor attendance, they come to us wanting that diploma.
We have approximately 3 students enrolled in the health care aide program. Several students are in the educational assistants program.
High level has two green certificate students, La Crete has many Green certificate students. Linda heads that program. Those students will be tested in the Spring.
La Crete has a few RAP students.
High Level is celebrating a student who just completed an ADLC math course!!! That, to us, is a miracle.
All schools have access to mental health counselling. There is a referral process. We have filled out over 5 referrals in High level over the passed month. We have created a small counselling room for her to see students in. Do you have students who could talk to an objective listener?
All staff have access to a counsellor as well. A male and a female are available, several emails have been sent out with their information. You may need someone objective to chat with. You can see these people during school time.
Last year's accountability pillar noted students feel safe at our schools. They should , our schools are welcoming spaces, with excellent staff to assist kids in seeking their education at their own pace.
Chad and or Dean come to High Level to assist on Mondays and Fridays as Allan is a .6 teacher. We are a busy place and there is no way we can get by with only one teacher. Alex will start going to Fort March 2nd. Linda or Annelise also spend an afternoon in Fort. That is a high needs population with some very capable kids.
Anne or Allan go to Rainbow Lake once a week. There are three students set to graduate this year from Rainbow Learning Store.
Kayleen is taking the EA course through Red Deer college and requires supervision to complete that course.
CRM meetings are held monthly. We will be holding CRM meetings next week in each location. It's time to catch up with our kids. Fort and Rainbow's meetings will happen this week.
I listed all this info with a goal in mind. Team, you need to see alllllllll that we have going on, all that YOU have, going on. It is a lot! You need to know how valued you are as part of this team, without your contribution we are incomplete. Thank you for being you.

Up and Coming

Acct. Pillar surveys for students will happen this week. We want kids to know that their ideas matter. We are looking for their input through this little survey. Codes will be available in each location. I will scan them to you in La Crete. Please give students a few success bucks for turning on their chromebook. We need as many surveys done this week as possible. The school with the most surveys completed per captita will win a free lunch for their school.

Diploma sittings need to be finalized for April. Teachers you are responsible for contacting me to make sure your student has the accomodation they need. Accommodations and special materials requests must be submitted by March 2nd. Let's have a conversation. Digital writers should already be identified. April will be here so quickly.

Headstrong conference names/paperwork had to be in this morning.

Forestry Expos happen in each location this week. Great opportunity for our kids to see the careers available to them locally.

La Crete has a wellness talk on Opiods this week.

High Level has a wellness talk on the legalities surrounding cell phone usage. Maria an RCMP officer will tell our students all they need to know about their phone usage. Can you think of other sessions our students would benefit from? Please let us know.

May 7th PM- Power lunch with Mike McMann and central office staff. Schools will close at 11:30 to accommodate this lunch. Everyone will travel to High level for a late lunch chat with Mike beginning at 1:00.

Have a great, full week. Thanks for being a part of our Learning Stores, Homeschool team. Thanks for all you do.
