Slow Down

Slow Down Please

Have you ever been driving along at 110kms per hour and slammed on your breaks because a deer jumped in front of you? I have. When you do that all the crap inside your vehicle goes flying, your purse, your phone, the stuff you bought. Your dog speaks for the first time and says," What the hell!" You get mad, ( bad deer) thankful and scared all at once.

Well, if you don't slow down in the next 8 days, stopping at the end of the school year will be like an almost deer hit. Going from 110 to zero can be painful.  Everything will go flying because you will lose your sh*t over something little, or you will totally zone out for days or you will feel really, really sad or what's worse you will get sick.( this always happened to me when teaching in the classroom)

Whatever it looks like for you, slowdown now... slow to 90 km. Take a drive to look at the lights. Slow to 70 km, do something for you, like actually sitting down and sipping a beverage while not looking at your phone or tv. On Friday, you should be slowed to 50 kms, just wrapping up lose ends around the school. Monday will be 40km, Tuesday 30km, Wed is forsure a 10 km kind of day. No crap flies around if you keep it a 10 km kind of day. You can stop and enjoy the holiday after that. Such a well deserved, well earned break.

Staffing

Last week we got to see Alex and Dean, it was so great catching up with them, we sure miss seeing each other. We get giddy when we do, just great seeing people in person.

Everyone is in except for me. I was encouraged to keep to my schedule so I put in the extra three days Mike assigned us. Now I will be back on to days off. No lie, I am finding it hard to not work. Everything takes getting used to. There is so much great stuff happening each day in our schools, so much joy!

Everyone else is in.

Amanda is off for the Tuesday and Wednesday of the last week as we will owe her days and these days are perfect ones to book off and even out the days until the year end. Perfect.

Take Note Please

Students should have given teacher's their decision about writing or not writing the diplomas in January.

Each year we speak of the differential in students reactions to holidays and ours. For many students being home for that 2 and a half weeks is horrible. Please look for that. The white space we give ourselves... please give to the students too this week. Have those conversations. Be nosey, what will they do this Christmas? If you hear of a family in need let us know and we will be sure to wrap around them.

Meteors- Take a look at the skies for the next several evenings to see a meteor shower. Watch the eclipse in the soutern hemisphere on the internet. Just some cool things happening.

******Report cards- January 26 th is the last day to get grades in. Mike may have changed this to the 28th i just can't track it down now.  Reports are due in to Chad and I on Feb 1st. The report cards go home on Feb 5th.********************************************

Handing out materials over the break- Use your discretion here, you know who will most likely do the work. You know who will most likely lose it all. Each case is different. We can say things in a kind way, we are masters at that.

Enjoy your Christmas break. I will see you back here on January 11th. The cool thing is the days will start to get longer each day! We're ready for that. Keep your vehicles plugged in.
