Monday, Monday

The geese are back and wondering what the heck is going on up north! Poor guys have no food, it's hidden under 8 feet of snow. They should have stayed in Manning. Hopefully by Easter we will have more signs of Spring. Start planning for fun, your holiday starts on April 15th and runs until April 25th. A well deserved break for you all.

What a celebration of normalcy when diplomas are taking place in our schools. Yeah! Never, ever, believed I would say yeah to diplomas! Yeah, we are busy this whole week with diplomas and into next week for some.

With a pending holiday we are in high gear getting students to do as much learning as they can now, just get it done kids!!! We are getting as much done as we can,  preparing for a calm year end. Each student knows where they stand, they know our important dates, they know now is a great time to get ahead. We are working everyday building courses, preparing for courses, making student contacts and doing report cards. We are as amped as the kids are.

Did you hear that Canada is going to be in the World Cup of Soccer in Quatar in November and December!! What a celebration for our country , that is not an easy feat! We could win this. Seems our pool is one we can break out from!! Alex and I are travelling first class to Quatar to watch it, anyone else coming along? Can we figure out a way to work remotely Alex????

Staffing

We are all in this week.

Amanda is back on Wednesday. So thrilled to have her back with us.

There is an LTM on Wednesday. Chad Sean and I are attending.

What's Up

  • Alternative education meetings last week were a great way for each of us to hear about our schools, and how they work in unison. The meeting was well attended in La Crete. Perhaps, an open house is a better idea for the High Level area as we had only two community members attend.
  • Thinking of next year and ways we focus on the division's three priorities literacy, numeracy and connections. Give it some thought. There is no doubt, our environment gives students the confidence to succeed academically and build skills socially. They are so well supported by you. Can we be more effective? Do you have other ideas?
  • Wellness- Lindsay Bandy is looking to support our Learning Stores. I have topics that students have identified. Do you have topics you believe should be taught to our students? I talk with her today.
  • Community helpers takes place Wednesday in High Level.
  • Report cards- Last day to input marks for this reporting period is April 14th. Report cards go home on April 29th. Please help yourself by commenting as you mark. I will sign and read report cards on April 27 In La Crete. High Level's are due Tuesday, April 26th.
  • First Aide April 13, 14th in La Crete. We are trying to bring a full crew to this training. More potential students will be  asked this week. Allan is driving bus! Hey bus driver speed up a little bit!!!
  • LTM is this week- I will summarize things for you and send it out. Friday is a meeting with the three alternative schools to discuss staffing etc... for next year. This happens each year at this time, first time we are discussing it together with At Home Learning and us.
  • CRM's- no sense doing a full CRm when we will be out of school for ten days soon. However, I thank you for doing mini CRM's Bonnie and Eva are identifying kids who need inactive letters. Some of you feel a call from a principal is needed. Perfect, let's keep doing mini CRM's in our locations to keep ahead of our students.

Thank you to you!

  • Many Thanks to all who have been doing marking for Amanda. Annelise, Dean and Holly have been keeping on top of this mound of marking and we so appreciate that. ( More than you could ever know) We wanted Amanda to come back to a reasonable load of marking and I think we've accomplished that. Again, thank you so much. And welcome back Amanda we missed you.
  • A million thank yous to Allan. I just can't thank him enough for the night classes he is doing for Nathan. He works on Monday and Wednesday nights trying to get this fella graduated. Allan, you are a rockstar and we know it! Thank you.
  • Thank you to you.... who go over and above. You know who you are. You are on top of everything, looking days ahead, months ahead. You are averting problems, you are kid oriented, you look out for Outreach. You work so, so, so hard. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
  • Thank you to all of you who are working on courses. Dean, Crystal, Annelise, Alex, Amanda and Allan. We no longer hang our heads when giving out a course ( well there are a few we don't love just yet) it is all so good. Thank you so much we appreciate all you do.
