Welcome Spring

So it is that Spring has arrived. Soon many of us will have some well needed relaxation time. We are fortunate in our line of work to have intermittent breaks which allow us to keep well mentally. When you look at many people working in our communities  they do not have those wellness breaks. Many moms and dads have only two weeks off a year to spend with their kids/families. We can see how the stresses would mount. We can empathize with them feeling like they can't catch up. So, please use your time wisely and look after yourself, we owe it to those who do not have intermittent holidays to enjoy to the fullest. We will come back refreshed and are ready again to take on the role of the best educators we can be.

La Crete, Rainbow and Fort Vermilion Learning Stores have a holiday next week.

High Level and Zama have holidays beginning April 9th.

Thank yous

Thanks to all who sponsored people for the WE ARE SILENT campaign in High Level. Four participants raised $265.00 for a Mental Health Initiative in our community.

Thanks to Alex who showed his talents in Korean Cooking last week. The kids were still talking about in on Thursday.

Thanks to Petra who went to Rainbow twice last week.

Thanks to Holly and Bonnie and High Level learning Store kids who are making art works for Spirit of the North's Art Show in May.

Thanks to all who added courses to the Locally Developed shared doc. I have a meeting with Mike April 7th.

Thanks to Mark and Nicole for assisting kids with Science Projects. Zama kids won two silver medals.

Thanks to Kitty Moulton for doing a total make over of the Library in Zama. It took forever but it is done and it looks great. Students now have a calm environment to enjoy books.

Staffing

I am in High Level today and tomorrow.

I am in Zama Wednesday afternoon.

I am in La Crete and Fort on Thursday.

So far all staff is in this week.

Events/Instruction and Programming

Diplomas are coming up. I must know who is writing digitally. Each location must make sure the computers are set up for this. We must make contact with kids to confirm dates so kids can not say I had no idea when that diploma was.

Making contact with your students is an integral part of the role of a Learning Store teacher. Be sure to make contacts this week. Grade twelves need encouragement at this time of year.

Many Learning Stores have courses that they are offering students.

First aide- would you be willing to do a Friday night and Saturday all day course to get your first aide certification?

  4. Darren stole mine! I will miss that satisfying feeling of washing my car after a long winter road trip when the muck freezes all over it. Gotta love pressure washers!

  6. I'll miss the calm of winter. No gardening, no bugs, no raking, no pack up to go camping, clean up from camping. I'll miss my cozy blanket. I'll miss the snow and hoar frost. I'll miss the calm

  7. I love winter for its whiteness, the cold, the snow, and the anticipation of Christmas. But what I'll miss most about winter is not having to worry about my lawn or the fun of guessing when winter is finally over in High Level with no more snow (and be wrong).
