Graduation Does happen Gradually

Grad week in all locations!!!
(except Zama- grad is still four years away for those boys)

What a celebration it is! Never unscore celebrations. It is celebrations that get us through the unhappy times. I'm thinking of a family in High level whose 35 year old daughter recently died in a car accident. Having the family memory of her grad celebration is a treasure no one can take away.
This is a huge celebration for our kids and their families and rightfully so!

Events

Wind up awards BBQ's are happening in High Level and La Crete. Final arrangements for those BBQ's will happen in the next two weeks. Students will receive their awards at this event.

Grad is happening in all locations on June 11th. Hoping staff are attending those grads to celebrate with our kids.  What a honor it is to be able to attend, as their grade one teacher isn't invited, but you are. You know she'd/he'd love to see her student cross that stage. It is a honor you get to enjoy when teaching/EA'ing/secraetaring the older grades.

It is important to touch base with grads and make sure they know all that they have to do this week. There are many things they need to get done, let's be sure they are aware of the list of things to do. An organized grad is a calm grad.

This is the week to encourage our kids to complete things  and to make sure that we are up to date on all of our things we have to do. Closing the school with grace is just as important as opening it. Get in touch with the kids you need to see and talk to. This is a busy, busy week. Good busy, not bad busy!!

Zama students had an excellent time in Grande Prairie. Highlights included; the Dinosaur Bone Bed in Wembly. It is well worth the little trip out there to Pipe Stone Creek for the hike, then to the Philip J Curry Museum. Going to the Art Gallery was equally as impressive. It's free and the exhibits are jaw dropping. Take a couple of hours to stimulate your senses. We saw oil drums welded into pieces of art, engine parts cast in porcelain sitting on a white leather chair and a Conspiracy of Ravens among thousands and thousands of pieces of cutlery. Please take some time when you are in GP to visit this extraordinary place. Lastly, kids and adults loved Laser tag. Who wouldn't!! Huge thanks go out to Zama parents who funded the trip and to Mr. Pelley for organizing it. He did a fabulous job of making it exciting and educational.

This week we will make decisions about award winners in each location. A document will be circulated with the criteria used to make those decisions.

Diplomas next week- digital writers. Teachers must ask the students if they are planning to write digitally. If they are, you must let me know so we can arrange it with the tech guys. This is a Monday, Tuesday thing, I must know by Wednesday who is writing digitally. many students wrote digitally last time, it was easy for us, students appreciated the option.

Thanks to You

Thanks to the High Level crew who have been unconstruction this week. The new cabinets look great.

Thanks to Eric for being acting Principal while I was in GP. His calm cool manner is exactly what is needed in June at the Learning Stores.

Thanks to all EA's who make it possible for our kids to keep moving forward. You are that front line person who kids can count on to help them get through their courses and their worries.

Thanks to the teachers who are marking like crazy and making sure our kids know what they need to know to graduate.

Thanks to Eva , Bonnie and Janet who really know what's going on! You support students and everyone else. Thanks for that.

Thanks to our custodians in each location. I haven't even met the lady in Fort yet but we so appreciate their hard work ever day. Without them we couldn't function!!
