Blame it on the Rain Falling Falling

Wow was looking for a way to incorporate the notorious Milli Vanilli into our Blog. Bam, just did it! After 3 days of rain we can start blaming things on the rain!

Our school garden is so happy, birds are happy, some farmers are happy, foresters are happy, firefighters are sad ( they like fighting fires).

So whatever happens this week, I say Blame it On the Rain ( we prayed for this rain).

Jenine and I were at the Rainbow Grad this weekend. It was Beyond fabulous. Our Learning Store students stood with pride. Their chief was there to honor them. Those kids have worked so hard to graduate, what a lovely celebration. It was only fitting that Rain poured on us all. When the Valedictorian got upn to speak a wind gust blew everything of the stage. So we literally were Blaming it On The Rain!!

What is Coming Up This Week

Grads in La Crete, Fort Vermilion and High Level. Hopes are that everyone feels included and our kids feel honored. They have worked so hard.

Wrapping it up. This week will be a marking week. Kids are still bringing in things. I recieved several texts on the weekend from students saying they are bringing things in on Monday. We will accept things this week, however, this is the last week for things to appear on the report card, that is unless you have made an arrangement with a student. There is a girl in Rainbow who is balancing three core courses and I have given her until next Tuesday. You have the ability to adjust those dates to suit you or a student.

REPORT CARDS- We have to be done those report cards by Wednesday the 17th. They can be sent out on the 19th. When marking I am adding my comment, this helps to reduce the work load at report card time. The comments seem to be relevant to the student.

ClOSURE/Wind Down Monday June 22nd- We will all get together for a year end wind down the last week of June. We will have it in our garden. Our lettuce and Kale will be ready by then. We will BBQ and enjoy the yard. Could each of you bring a small dish of something?

Student Contacts- Closure- Wish students well, if they are returning next year they can fill out a registration form so they can just jump into studies in September. We are having students do that, we need those numbers in September.

PD Last Week of June- The division will have some PD they want us to be involved in, however our vPD will be prepartion for next year. We will trun over some courses, we will have Amanda here to train her, we will all plan for the next year by hard scheduling things, we will get together, we will end the year on a great note, feeling good about next year because we are prepared.

So Many Thanks To You

So Many thanks to Holly who covered for Allan and I from Tuesday to Thursday. We had to self isolate awaiting covid test results from my daughter. Holly did it all. She answered phones, organized grad, spoke with parents and students, marked some things, created materials, geesh the list goes on. She did it all, we were rescued by her. Just another wonky thing to add to 2020, Holly just took it in stride, now we are back to normal.

Thanks to Linda and Annelise, they gave Amanda a tutorial on Friday. They girls were so well prepared and welcoming. Amanda sent me a message later thanking you girls for the excellent mini tutorial. She is feeling good about working with everyone. She loves our Outreach Vibe.

Thanks to Chad who is helping out with the La Crete Grad. He and Susan have been in contact. Our students will have representation when walking that stage.

Huge thanks to Jenine, who contacted all of our Rainbow Lake students. The families felt included and were all there to celebrate their children. Jenine has a lovely way of connecting with those kids. Amelia's Mom is having her last chemo treatment this Wednesday. She was so glad she could make it to the grad.

Teachers- thanks for the marking you've been doing. The piles seem endless. Will be lovely to get it all out of the way, and breathe again.

Thanks to Dean who has been handling his crew of about 10 kids throughout our closure. The kids have been reaching out to him, thank goodness he will assit with the Fort transition for a few months, next year.  3 of our kids are graduating. They are not attending the ceremony but we will recognize them as we do our other students.

ED Plan Due 17th of June. It is almost done. We used the data from our acct pillar survey and the input form staff on our last PD day. We are planning for next year with 2 possible scenarios, all back with restrictions, scheduled return for students. I do not want to contemplate the thought of this continuing.

Thanks to you all for your patience. You could have gone the other way... This wonkiness could have had you become upset, arguementative, disallusioned. We have all been all of those, but we didn't stay there. Thank you for not getting caught up in the doom and gloom. We got through March 2020 to June 2020.
