Q: What was the dogs favorite type of homework to do?
A: A lab report
In the staff survey only 75% of people say they are recognized for what they do. Those are sad numbers.
What exactly is it that you do:
You make the quiet kid talk.
You made a hard concept seem easy.
You solve problems with students.
You become a CSI agent tracking kids down.
You let a student know that they have skills they never knew they had.
You give hope to those who had none.
You are the first person that kid has talked to today.
You recognize when your collegues need help, you just know.
You give trouble when you need to.
You are calm and cool.
You are open minded.
You don't laugh out loud when you see wonky things, you wait to laugh.
You give our courses integrity.
You love being an educator, it shows.
You seek out the ones who want to hide under a rock.
You are patient and wait for kids.
You matter, you are kind, you are smart, you are important to us.
We notice what you do.
Thank you
What did the dog in the hard hat say?

Staffing
Please note the AHS checklist changed. They gathered data from employeers, hospitals and schools and adjusted it accordingly. Please use this new guideline, it makes concessions for a few symptoms.
Anne
I may be leaving Thursday, as I am going to switch out a day in the back to the front. If Thursdays weather is crap, we will leave Friday. My reasoning is: We can not go back and see my grandbabies after we go to the wedding we will isolate for 5/6 days. 50 people wedding, thankfully Canmore's regualtions are full masking in all buildings, strict 6 people per table max. You always feel more confident when the facilitators are following guidelines to the tee. Plus Steve is type one diabetic so we take all precautions with him.
Dean is back. Welcome back. He may be out a few days in the middle of the week, we will know more today.
Chad and Anne have the LTM on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to about 1:00.
Martha is out today in La Crete.
Everyone else seems healthy and good to go. Yeah! Let's ride that wave for a bit...
My buddy said he threw a stick five miles and his dog managed to find it and brought it back. Seems a little far fetched
What is Happening this Week
Bad weather is being forcast. Please download the bus status app to get bus updates. Hoping it does not involve more freezing rain. We will take snow over freezing rain. Our Outreaches are always open.
- We were supposed to be writing diplomas. One student in La Crete is writing. He wanted to, brave boy! We are not making up final exams for these courses but are still following our tracking sheets for quizzes and exams. That is fair.
- Our last day to put in marks for this reporting period is Friday. Please make comments as you mark then doing report cards is beyond easy. Report cards go home in La Crete on 13th, in High Level that's Monday morning.
- Finishing courses- many students are finishing up courses and starting new ones.
- PGP's are due
- Wellness Sessions survey results for High Level- Our students want to learn more about Drugs and Alcohol, Stress and Anxiety, Depression, Sleep Issues, Self Harm, smoking and mental Health. Thanks to Leah for taking charge with distributing this survey in High Level. We will hard schedule dates for thses sessions. La Crete is looking at the survey this week making adjustments to it and giving it out to kids this week so we can schedule sessions.
- Students with Special Needs have many options for accomodations. Last week we set up a students with print materials from Golden Hills and audible files for the novels. we are hoping he can work independently with this format. Fingers crossed.
- Do you want training in microsoft word??? Is there any other training you'd like to see? We can get that for you.... just say the word.
- This link is about trauma informed practice. I listened while I was working Friday. It is excellent, has us asking What Happened to you? Instead of what's wrong with you? This link is only available for another 20 days.
- Grad preparations are under way. each school does a great job of keeping families informed of events.
- Celebration for our young Momma Serena who passed her Social 30-2 challenge with a 72%. She is now a graduate. We were patient and she came to us.
- Stupid Things People Do With Their Money session went very, very well. Jonathan Parenteau, a former student, presented to the students for 5 minutes. He drove up in his BMW dressed in a suit, and spoke about getting his accounting degree at 23 and then on to his masters and now will pursue law or a doctorate. Our kids were so engaged. Us too!
- Did you know? AHS has a team that wraps around students with chronic mental health diagnosis. After diagnosis, a social worker and mental health therapist assist in moving the student forward. We are meeting with a team on Tuesday in High Level to plan for a student.
- What does it look like? What does our population include: in each location about 10 students with special needs, in High Level 1 student with conditions and three who have come off conditions, each Learning Store has students who want counseling, 55% FNMI population in High Level( highest of any school in High Level), 89 students in La Crete, 92 in High Level. We each have a few inactive kids we needed to send letters to. Kids are handing in work. Staff are working their butts off. There is a condensed version of our Outreach.
