In the Land of Northern Lights

 

We live in the land of Northern Lights. They are spectaular anytime we see them, but last night was extraordinary. A lovely way for Fall to say good bye. Hope you caught it. This show was for seniors and kids it started at a reasonable hour, about 8:30. 

What was the last book you read? I read one of our grade 11 books entitled, The Shape of a Girl. Without saying too much, it outlines violent bullying. It is a hard read. I couldn't help but connect that some of our kids are with us because they were bullied elsewhere, targeted by others for fun. 

At our school these kids have a voice, they can become empowered, they can build skills and move forward. If you get a chance read, The Shape of a Girl. 

Staffing

Bonnie is out. Tracy is in 8:00 to 12:30. Leah covers from 1:00 to 4:00.

Everyone else is in.

This is a busy week.

We have CRM's this week and we have a staff meeting on Wednesday at 3:00. CRM today in HL. CRM Thursday in La Crete. 

High Level is running an Ag 1050 course tomorrow. I am running that one. Love teaching about plants. We also have a Ag 1070 we will run concurrently. 

High Level is running finance 1010 on the 26th. Leah and I are teaching that. The stupid things people do with their money course. 

La Crete will have Finance 1010 and Taxation going in the next 2 weeks. Annelise is teaching that. 

Diploma prep happens in La Crete on Oct 28,29. Alex is teaching that.

Forsure the student issues survey will be done, results tabulated and wellness sessions booked until Christmas. 

Scot and Karen meet with me today at 11:00, to discuss issues concerning Learning Stores. Do you have compliments or concerns you'd like brought up? I am mentioning the 26 IPp's we have in High Level, our endless construction, CRM transition to Dossier, grad changes, wellness, access to on line courses etc... email me.

Diplomas- Students who are writing should have been identified and names sent in to Tracy or Eva. Diplomas are less than one month away. 

Covid self screening still takes place upon entry, people who are sick should stay home. Nothing new here. AHS is listing schools with outbreaks and cases. We weren't on that list last week, but who knows what next week brings. All good, we will always stay open just as we did last year.

Student contacts- so important. If they are away there may be a story they'd like to tell. We should know what each of our kids is up to. They must be productive and keep moving toward their goals. 

Wellness- Please plan for your wellness. The PD on Friday had some valuable pointers. Know who you are: are you a risk taker, are you a problem solver, do you self sabootage, do you judge others? are you a leader, ASre you crafty and creative, are you a gardener. At what level of awareness are you animal, mass, aspiration, individual, discipline, experience, mastery. Create a process to your day a routine. For some you get out and walk the dog, for some you do yoga before work... whats your pre game or pre work routine? Know the 3 R's Regulate, (to adjust so as to ensure accuracy of operation.) Relate- ( to establish a connection with things or people)Reason- ( think through a problem)

It is okay to focus on your wellness.
