Monday Late Afternoon Memo

Good afternoon everyone,

What a day, a sunny, gorgeous day. Hoping you spend the afternoon outdoors. It's too beautiful to miss. You must love wearing a parka to school and short sleeves home, that's  being a Northern Canadian. Edmonton is not North!!!

Enjoy the calm week before diplomas start. Diploma week will be calm too, just a few more logistics to manage. Please read up on who is supervising and prepare. I pick up diplomas tomorrow from central office.

Staffing

Don't we know it, we have been suffering from staffing shortages all year. We dodged covid for two years, now we are making up for it. We have always said, "Everyone gets a turn at adversity.' It's Learning Stores turn. We never worry though, we will always figure things out. Excellent staff allows us to do that. We cover for each other any time we are needed. We worry when you aren't here, and would do anything we could to fill in for you, making sure we look after your students. Stay well people, we love ya and miss ya!

We hope to welcome back Amanda this week. She has been so sick, sick, sick.

Dean is out today recovering from soreness and stiff joints. He had an accident Friday, he has been blessed to not have significant physical injures. These accidents will shake you to the core. My roll over of the superintendent's Yukon was memorable for sure. Dean we love ya and want you to ease back into things when you are ready. So happy you are okay.

Leah is out today. There has been a death in the extended family. Hugs to her and her family.

I am out Thursday and Friday. I am taking this time before diplomas as diplomas will have me here fulltime for a bit.

Hang on people we have 13 days until we have a Spring Break. A well deserved break where the temps won't be minus 15.

The winners in our comments on how you calm yourself blog were Bonnie, Eva and Leah. I wil be presenting you ladies with a gift card soon.

What is Going on This Week:

Mini CRM's - taking any huge action before we are holiday for 10 days is not wise, so we will do mini crms where you look over your kids and see if there is anyone would like to talk about. I have sent a request for inactive letters to Bonnie for 5 of our kids. Let's see if that works.... Look those names over, is there an action we should take right away? Go ahead, or contact me please.

Report cards: feeling like we just did them. April 29th report crads go home. This will be easy peasy as you can comment when a student completes a module. Work on them when you have a minute, please do not work on them over Easter Break, that is your time.

Assurance Surveys- lst day for surveys is April 1st. Please catch as many kids as possible.

Asynchronous courses- Please be sure to fill out the shared document i sent you. Scot and Karen are awaiting our thoughts on this.

20 minute conversations- Going to try to start a few this week.

Community Helpers- Thanks to Alex who assisted with this course. I'm assisting now and it is so good. Our kids needed this so much. Wellness is key they can't learn until they are well, out of survival mode.
