T'is the Season

T'is the Season of Change, Spring.

Each year we go through transitions at this time of year. They always happen.  This year, however, is a total metamorphosis. Outreach is amalgamating into Pathways, pretty cool.

I am moving into a new position, doing what I love, leading a counseling role with High Schools and Post Secondary institutions. Kim is leading both the Outreach side and the At Home Side, that is an enormous task. In addition, Bonnie is transferring into a new position at Spirit of the North. This is another metamorphosis. Bonnie is our Rock Star, she rocks everything wherever she goes. That is who she is, a smart, classy lady. Spirit is lucky.

Reluctance describes intial feelings concerning these moves, as both Bonnie and I are crazy advocates for Learning Stores and always will be. We worry our baby, ( Outreach) won't be a priority. But that is not the case, our kids will be looked after, you will be looked after, Kim has our heart. She knows these kids, she cares about these kids, that reassures us that all will be well and perhaps even better.

Every change we have had, has worked out. Each of our building moves,2, brought us to the lovely building we have in High Level, and leaves us still hoping for a building move in La Crete. Staffing changes have brought us new fabulous people. ADLC dismantling had Alex rework the whole drive for us, and it worked out so well. Alex got us through that. There are so many other things that seemed in surmountable yet perserverance and a lazer focus on kids was always maintained by you!

Sharing this info with you is important as neither Bonnie or I will be at your scheduled meeting on Thursday at central. This is a gathering of all people who will be in Pathways next year and that does not include Bonnie, Sean Price or I. Enjoy, you will hear of the new vision and will have your questions answered.

Kim will be in our building in High Level on Tuesday. I am in La Crete teaching Landscaping 1070 that day.

Kim and Anna will be visiting the Learning Store in La Crete on Thursday morning. Many more visits will take place I am sure.

The Metamorphosis of a butterfly is mind blowing. The metamorphosis of Learning Stores and At Home will be just as astonishing.

Staffing

Bonnie is out to an appointment today.

I am out Thursday and Friday. I am picking Steve up from the airport after his trip to see his parents in Nova Scotia.

Allan is back after his week off. You were missed Allan, especially by Leah!

What's Happening

  • CRM's are happening in the next two weeks. Tuesday in La Crete and next Tuesday in High Level.
  • Our staff meeting is cancelled, you are having a staff meeting with Kim , Mike, Scot and Karen instead on Thursday.
  • Report cards went out. Please expect parent calls to increase. They may contact you instead.
  • Pour it on- Our kids need to be pushed, nudged, poked, prodded to get these courses done. Soon Spring will come and they will be out catching butterflies, or  whatever teens do these days. Our last day for grads to start new core courses is the end of this week.
  • Next week we are making contact with parents who have not made contact.
  • Crystal is working on the Learning Strategies 15. She has found some very good sites which outline the outcomes.
  • Sexual Health- Contact has been made with Jennifer Wilson to bring sexual health classes to High Level in May. Let's see how this goes over in High Level and then we can plan for these classes in La Crete.
  • PATS begin on May 16th. Teachers please go over the grade nines we have and be sure they know when they are writing. PATs have arrived in both locations, part A that is.
  • Tomorrow, La Crete has a Landscaping course, 1070. They will have a hand at designing High Level's Outdoor Classroom and starting hydroponic gardens.
  • Important dates-the day to start new grad courses, core courses, is May 6 in High Level and May 2nd in La Crete. Now, if there is a case built for an exemption we will hear it. Our next upcoming date is the grad course completion date- Tuesday May 31st. Grads must complete 80% of their course by this time. Again, if there is a variable we should know of, make us aware, we will deal with it on an individual basis.
Celebrations. So many!!!
  • Eva's son Shane is getting married in a few weeks. How exciting is that. family is getting bigger!
  • Leah's daughter Heather is graduating on June 11th. Wow, what a celebration this will be. .
  • My son Shaun and daughter in law Tori are expecting a baby in October. Grandbaby number 3.
  • Bonnie's daughter Angelina. Has been accepted to the University of BC for a summer program. What an adventure that will be.
  • Dean's daughter Gabby just got her Learners. We can all appreciate how exciting that is.
