Rain Rain come our Way but not on Friday or Saturday

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain telling me what a fool I've been, for ever wishing the rain away. 

 Rain cleanses the soul, gives the earth a bath and awakens sleeping plants, animals and people. With another fire burning out of control near the Wood Buffalo park we can predict more smokey days. 

 Well it is Smokin' at Spirit this week. Several of you entered the Spring Sprint. Cool! Logan Goobie ran 5 km. Teiya MacArthur went in the mud run! The Grade 4's and 5's are having finals. Life skills are running another fabulously planned and delicious BBQ on Tuesday get your order in with Shelly please. 

The joys of rain, this little one just bounces back. We all fall down, but to bounce back up with a smile is just so cool.

 So proud of Hannah she will be expanding her Tai kwondo business and leaving us at Spirit. Best of luck with that. Hiiiiiii yaaa

 Andrew Nicholson is leaving Spirit with wishes to join the armed forces. Best of luck with that cool adventure Andrew. salute!!!

 Eva Weibe is going to be the best farm hand ever. She'll be throwing those round bales around like nothing! Its been a pleasure having you Eva. 

 Erica is resigning from the library to go back to school. She will do .4 speech. She's already the teacher's pet I bet!! Her marks are awesome!!!

 Leona Wolfe is resigning her position as head cook and will be driving bus we believe. Leona has been our head cook for years and her ability to adapt to our healthier menu and give us ideas has been so appreciated.

 JUST A NOTE:

 Do you know of anyone who is renting a home? If you do please see me. No I haven't kicked Shaun out (yet). Someone we know is seeking a rental. If it looked like this that would be great! 

Staffing

This week more dominoes will fall. Grade six teacher will be announced and we hope our new VP will be announced. 

 Sheila is out tomorrow pm for technology- Evelyn is in Pm.

 Natalia is out tomorrow- Evelyn is in for the morning and Natasha or Erica for the pm.

 I am out Tomorrow. Going to Fort for a meeting about my new position. 

 Wednesday Shane and I are out to LTM. Cathy Robinson is in to cover. Kim Brown will be acting that day. 

 Debbie is out on Wednesday-

 Thursday Kim is out for Divisional track and field day. 

 Thursday I am out to interview for child circle positions. 

 Friday- Olivia and Erica are out- no sub needed for Erica. 

 Sheila is out Friday and next Monday- Evelyn is in. 


How cool is this, so here is Shelly after a rainfall in California! You know they are having a drought, the ground doesn't take water very well after three years of drought. You see Shelly doesn't mind at all. Pete and Eva are smart they are in a canoe down the block! Shelly sees this as a great opportunity to add to her scrapbook called "Californian Fun adventures!" Calm is cool she always says!  

 Events

 IPP ice cream treat signing party 3:30 Monday in staffroom. 

 Tasha and her crew are corralling all staff and guests to the Honky Tonkin' party at Shane's house. We would love all of you to come for at least supper. Enjoying a meal together is a blessing!! I mean muchin' on 'er moose hind makes y'all happier than a pig in muck! 

 supper activities start at 5:30.  

 Enjoy your week. Remember this is the week to get caught up. Taking an hour or two  this week to work on comments makes so much sense. 

 Please plan as well for closure as you do for the beginning of the year. Our energizer books have great closure activities. I am going to build a time line for us in the staffroom to chart our year- good and bad, happy and sad, funny and ridiculous. We get to see where we have come from and where we are going to. Be sure to put somethings on that time line please!

Report Card Week A terrific way to catch up with our kids, a time to think deeply about that student and where they are going. A teacher always asks themselves , how well do i know that student. If the answer is not well, we seek to get to know them better next semester. Report Cards are valuable to the student and their families and the process is so valuable to us. While on the airplane, I looked quizzically at the woman beside me wearing a mask... Ha! Turns out She knew germs were flying around that plane. Now, I have those sickness germs and she's partying somewhere! Note to self...masks look ridiculous but keep you germ-free!!!  Or perhaps the story goes this way... she had some horrible cold and it seeped out from her mask to infect me... Either way, she has a part to play in this mini illness, of that I am sure!   Lots going on this week- please remember that we are 1 week from May our kids need to pour it on these next few weeks.   Stanley Cup playoffs are continuing with just a few rounds to finish. Go Toronto, go Winnipeg!  Report cards are due Wed they go home on Friday. Parent-teacher interviews are happening in the weeks ahead. This week in our CRM's we talked about our students and assigned actions to several. We are starting to figure this out;  people are coming forward to volunteer to do that action. In the past, we sat back waiting to see who might be assigned. Now, you are developing relationship with these students and are saying, " I can do that, I know her pretty well." or " I'd like to try to make contact with him, I have a soft spot for him."  That is the way CRM's are supposed to function, thank you for stepping up. CRM's ground us for the month to come. No kid is falling through the cracks without us grabbing his or her arm and trying to pulling him back on track. Wow! Cliche ville there! All English teachers are cringing!  Congratulations Congratulations to Eva, Bonnie, Dean and Jenine.
