Bad Times have a scientific value

 I woke up at 8:13 today.I knew something was up when it when opened my eyes and it was daylight!  I am usually at work at 7:40. Not today! 

When I get to work my calendar for November 20th says:

Bad times have a scientific value...

We learn geology the morning after the earthquake. 

So I have learned I'm going to set the clock myself, and not rely on others ( Steve!) I have ordered a new phone that holds a charge for more than two hours. There it is, I have learned the geology a few hours after the earthquake.

Thanks so much to you all who had a hand in putting out the report cards last week. We put out reports we are proud of. They had meaningful comments and showed the progress of the students. Thanks again. 

Thanks to Bonnie, Gaye, Connie and their devoted crew who collected toys for the Christmas hampers through a crafty weekend fundraiser. They collected $2000 dollars worth of toys at the door and will be shopping for another $5300. This fundraiser craft weekend makes so many people's Christmas. Huge hugs to these ladies for thinking of those in need. 

Thank you to Lisa for sitting in with us for parent-teacher interviews at Blue Hills on Thursday. Lisa is doing a fantastic job there with the 10 students. Parents say very kind things about her as well. 

Huge thanks to Holly and Eva who are cataloging our Chromebooks. It's not easy! We are now creating a letter for students to sign which acknowledges their responsibility for the Chromebook. Once that letter is signed sites can set the Chromebooks free.

Wednesday- Rainbow am- High Level pm - parent teacher interviews 5-8

Thursday- central office comes to HLLS at 9:00- 12:00

Friday Zama- all day

Mark will be taking a Pd day on Tuesday as the kids are not in town that day.

Instruction and Programming

One week marking window- It is a division guideline that works handed in will be marked and recorded within one week of the date handed in. So you are aware... anything over that timeline would have you making contact with me and letting me know what extenuating circumstances interfered with that assignment being marked in a week. Students do want their marks, it is a motivator for them. To date, I believe most of you are aware of this and are keeping pace very nicely. 

Copyright- if you are photocopying a portion of that book, let's buy it. It is just common sense and we do have funds set aside for the purchase of texts and materials. 

Whistle Blower guidelines- Our division has released this document. I will be forwarding it to you. It is extensive. Please read it and make yourself aware of the contents of this document. 

Christmas Get Together- We will send out a Google document with ideas. Please comment on which one you prefer. If you are not working the day of the get together we will pay you that day. 

Zama will be using the gym for workouts with the students. Mark will look like the HULK the next time we see him. 

Zama parent teachers will take place hopefully at noon on Friday. 

CRM meetings will take place in the first week of December in each location. 

Inactive students are being withdrawn- If you cant find them inPowerSchooll etc... it is because we have withdrawn them from the school. Students and paarents will have to reregister students after a meeting with the principal. 

Thank you for sitting with students to gauge where they are in their work. If we make it a practice then students will expect that we are going to check where they are. Many students will not ask for help but will if you sit with them for two minutes and have a discussion about work. We are gathering data for our CRM meetings. 

Central office visit- central office is visiting on Thursday at 9:00 in High Level. They may ask you questions, or just want to have a chat. They will be going over our Ed Plan. I will send it back out after I adjust it from the results review I attended last Wednesday. Will stael some cool ideas form other schools about how to format it. 

Forestry Expos- La Crete on Tuesday at LCPS - Thursday morning in High Level- Please decide which teacher/EA is going over with the students. Please don't assume students aren't interested please ask. 

Mypass/ student portal- Now that report cards are done it is an expectation that all your students will be given the letter for student portal, sign into it and will be on Mypass. We will check to see that this has happened on the 1st of December. There is a draw in each location for the students, 2 twenty-five dollar gift cards. There is a fifty dollar draw in each location for the staff members. When you sign up a kid put his/her name on a paper with your name. The more kids you sign up the more chances to win that card. ( of your choosing) If your location decided on something different please let me know. We need to do this. 

Well, it's almost 1:00 and the blog is done. No more waking up late!!!!!!
