Where will we put the snow?
Buses were canceled today.
The snow in my backyard is up past my knees. My question is, where will I shovel the rest of the snow that is coming this winter? I am already throwing it into huge banks. I guess this is an eastern world problem, in the west. I recall snowbanks five feet high as a kid in Ontario. Once, we were stranded at school and slept there, free fries were the highlight of our stay. So, western winter don't you worry... some of us have seen the likes of you... It will just be a great exercising year!
Huge thanks to everyone who does snow removal at all of our locations. They have been very, very busy.
Thanks
Thank yous- thanks to the staff who held parent-teacher interviews last week. We had two parents into High Level, three sets of parents in Blue Hills, none in La Crete but I will do a better job of letting parents know next time. In Zama, we had one meeting with two parents about three kids! Now isn't that cool.
Thanks to Holly, Eva and the librarian in Blue Hills for cataloging those Chromebooks and beginning to distribute them. Some students are super excited and some have said no thank you, which is perfectly fine with us.
Thanks to Jenine, Levi, Lisa and Mark, you work independently in your locations and do such a great job. It is not easy we realize, however, each of your groups of students is doing well. They are moving forward not backward we thank you for that.

Instruction and Programming
MyPass With report cards done, let's help these kids get set up to track their own education by doing Mypass with them. Bonnie and I realized when we went to the Pasi session that everything is going to go through Mypass so let's get them set up on it and student portal as well. This is a great week for it. We will be pulling stats for each school on Monday. Please put kids name in for the gift card draw and your name in staff draw, if you assisted that student.
Visit by central office- Mike is very pleased with each school. He sees that there is good work happening. We are moving forward. He did show me the diploma and course mark stats and we definitely have to take a look at how to narrow that gap between school awarded marks and diploma marks. Our gap in some courses is 40%. I will send you that data to analyze. Are we preparing students for the diplomas???
In some courses, there is a very little gap, which he seemed pleased about.
Student contacts- we will be having our CMR meetings next week so please catch up with your students. The expectation is that you are making contact with each student weekly.
Staff Christmas get together is on Dec 15th. We can not close schools so a Friday is the only option. We will make it fun for all, a lovely little Christmas time. Mark will miss as he will be in Grande Prairie with Salah. We will send out more info in the days to come. If you do not work this day you will be paid to work on that day.

Timing- These next two weeks are weeks where we can get a lot of work from our students, they haven't slowed down yet. Neither have we... The push is on. We know about the Christmas lag.
Diploma marks have been released. Our new Momma got a 70% on her English diploma! What a thrill to see her succeed.
Darren's success was that a student who took math from him returned ( he was on reading week) to say hello and catch up. Darren was obviously a positive influencer. Petra had a university student drop by as well. She is at U of A taking education. Petra has been a positive influencer for her too. Love it!
Enjoy your week. May you get a break from shoveling for a few days.
Shoveling snow..... that's the main reason we have children isn't it? Cheap labor?
