Philadelphia Freedom!!!!

Not sure if you are a football watcher, however even you would have enjoyed the Philadelphia victory yesterday.  That city is celebrating their first Super Bowl Championship. They took crazy risks and they all paid off.

This appeared on my calendar today.

In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.

Tao Te Ching- dates back to the 6th century

This saying still has relevance.

Live simply, be fair and generous to everyone...
Don't try to control everything.
Do what you ENJOY! If we don't like what we do,  stop doing it, find something else.
Be there for our families, we honor our family through our words and our actions.

Reminders we all need.

The Tao Te Ching, along with the Zhuangzi, is a fundamental text for both philosophical and religious Taoism. It also strongly influenced other schools of Chinese philosophy and religion, including LegalismConfucianism, and Buddhism, which was largely interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts when it was originally introduced to China. Many Chinese artists, including poetspainterscalligraphers, and gardeners, have used the Tao Te Ching as a source of inspiration. Its influence has spread widely outside East Asia and it is among the most translated works in world literature.[3]

Instruction and Programming

Progress reports: Go out on Friday 9th.

Teachers convention- we will still meet in the same restaurant for lunch on Thursday and Friday.

Student Contacts

  • We keep track of student contacts on our contact sheet document
  • If you have not seen or heard from a student, you are to make contact with that student in some form. You could text, make a phone call, do a call out, visit the home. If that doesn't work please let me know and I will delve further into the whereabouts of that student.
  • Everyone has a hand in making sure the contact sheet is up to date. ie: When I am away, High Level staff will note that my student has been in.
  • Work completed? This section must be completed with yes or no.
  • Thank you to those who take ten minutes a day to keep this data updated. Most of us agree that this has been a valuable tool for us.
  • Also, if there is a student you think someone else would work better with them please have those conversations. Alternatively, if you have a great relationship with a student, you may ask their advisor if you could track that student. We are halfway through, these are good conversations to have.
  • Next week- the 12th is a day off in lieu of parent-teacher interviews. 13, 14th are days when school is closed, Thursday and Friday are teacher convention days. Enjoy your short break.
  • Accountability Surveys- This is the week to have students complete the survey. We appreciate those who have assisted with this. Lisa, I will bring your surveys to you after the teacher's convention break.
  • Blue Hills Learning Store pending move- Plans are in the works to move the Learning Store students to a location in the motel. Our goal date will be Mid March or earlier. Our students are crammed into their present location and feeling a little disconnected. Having their own space will be a blessing.
  • Zama, Janet and I will be getting ready for the Division school closure consultation on February 20th. At this time trustees will gather information which will inform them in their decision to close or keep open the Zama City School.
  • Rainbow Learning Store now has five full-time students. I spent the day there, it is so busy!! We are hoping it will calm this week. Jenine has her hands full, Petra and Eric will be there alternating Fridays to assist.
  • Transition week has come and gone, by now all students seeking courses from the High Schools should have signed up with us.  Thank you for handling that semester/quad change well.
Have a great week.
