Pink shirt day this Wednesday- but what it really comes down to is....

I read this article and it is one person's view of criticism and negativity. An interesting read. It fits with our theme this week. Her last sentence does forsure...
Debating is one of the best activities for adults and children to take part in. At times you are forced to take an opposing side to what you believe. You are forced to see things from another's point of view. If we taught our students this practice, it would be a great character builder. If we practiced this mode of thinking we'd benefit, how could you not?
Thank yous
Huge thanks goes out to Lisa who has handled the move of the Blue Hills Learning Store beautifully. We are now located in the motel. ( How cool is this, our first motel location!!) Students are enjoying the freedom from school rules and timetables and are getting work done. Lisa still requires many things such as a printer, however, we are making do and her positive attitude has helped everyone get through this transition week. There will be more hiccups but we will figure it all out.
Thanks to all staff who took part in parent-teacher interview evenings this month. We saw quite a few parents, it was impressive for us. Thanks to Holly and Bonnie for making gorgeous fruit baskets in High Level. Thanks to Eva for organizing food in La Crete. We will be contacting parents this week in other locations.

Zama school is not closed. Janet works there each day until noon. I go out there every couple of weeks. Our meeting last week, was designed to collect information about the community of Zama. I thank Janet for having such a wonderfully balanced approach to this process. We heard many members of the community and the board will continue to gather the information they need to make an informed decision about the school. I sure do miss those kids.
* Note the kid's grandma passed away last week her funeral was yesterday.
The last date for accountability pillar survey has been extended to this Friday. Holly has done a marvelous job in High Level of grabbing the kids when they come in. Thanks to all of you who have been diligent with that. The data is useful.
Diplomas- Students who are writing in April should now be registered. Do we have any kids writing Biology anywhere? I know about La Crete, they have a possible writer, any other bio writers. I ask as the diploma is on the Monday of our holiday, which means I need to organize that.
March 16th - Power Lunch- in High Level- I guess Alex and I have decided that we will eat Chinese that day. Petra we will order in for you, please just let us know what it is you'd like. I am still looking for coverage in La Crete for that day. Lisa and Levi I will chat with you about this.
Grad letters have gone out in La Crete and will go out in High Level this week. Petra and Jenine and I will talk about Rainbow's letters this week.
Student contacts- Student contacts mean just that, we make contact with students, if they don't make contact with us. It is important for students to know we care about their well being. Child and family services contacted us and we were able to give a history of contacts for a student. Thank you for making contact with your students.
CRM meetings- Next week we will be having our CRM meetings. Please look at the notes and see if you have taken the action you said you would. I will be looking over the notes today and make sure I am up to date with what I said I would do. I will update you on information Lorna Hewson gave when she reviewed our process.
Time to work is now. Can you feel it? There is some heat in that sun. We lose our kids when Spring hits. Pushing the kids, now, to get things done is a great idea. We have about 5 weeks before Spring fever hits!!!!
Atrieve- thank you to you all for using this system for absences. So far we seem to have handled the transition well. Please call me or see if you have any questions about any absences. You should be getting a confirmation email once I approve the leave.
Good News
Jenine is planning a wedding and things are getting done. She gets to meet with the girls soon.
Gail our student wellness worker is back in High Level after having an operation.
One of our invisible students handed in her hcs 3000 and got 10 credits, she may graduate this year!!! Thanks to Levi for making that work expereience count for her.
