Here I Go Again..

I have had this song in my head since I played Rock Band on Friday night and sang it. It is fitting for this weeks' post as we are starting a new week which I predict will be calmer.
We were so busy last week. Each school is over projections. Students are starting out with goals in mind, hopefully to accure as many credits as possible to graduate. In the next two weeks staff will be assigned students to make contact with. Here we go again, making sure our students know their job is to learn, and realize they have power over their educational outcome.

Things to know

Common Assessments-
We do common assessments if the student received modules from us. If the student is signed up with ADLC and is doing the course on line or as a registered student with ADLC we do not do common assessments but follow the assessment plan of ADLC.

Actually, you were able to apply for the $500 advance, central wanted to scrap that, but it is in the collective agreement so they couldn't.

Powerschool training- I will be contacting Bob to arrange a time for a tutorial. Many teachers want this.

Color printer- Just a note that it costs significantly more to print in color. Keep printing, no worries there, but ask yourself whether it needs to be in color.

Grad Plans for students- We sat down and completed a few on Friday. It is important to know what stream these kids want to follow. Requirements for a heavy duty mechanic are different than a small engines mechanic. Reqirements for a speech assistant different from a speech pathologist. Preparing students for their adventures after grade 12 is imperative.

Grad meetings- Soon the first grad meetings will take place.

Sitting with students- Several students are new to our schools. It may take you sitting with them to get them started with their work. This way they learn the expectations, then you can start to stepping back. Often when you ask  student if they are doing okay, they will say I'm fine but they have no clue what they are doing. Ask what do you need my help with today?

Relationships- By now students have figured out if you are someone they will confide in, ask for help or seek a relationship with.

Schedules- This week we are going to hard schedule teacher visits to Fort and to Rainbow for the months of September and October.

What You Need, baby I got it...
If there is anything you need at your school please let me know we will get it for you. We are ordering chairs in all locations.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Jenine and Randy they gave gained a son in law, Jesse. After having three girls they welcome Jesse with open arms! Ask her to see the pictures they are gorgeous!

Congrats to all of us for a great start.
