Kindness Costs Nothing

Met so many kind people on the break. What a difference kind people make in your day. These are just some of the things they did.

  • My hands were full with grandbaby and huge diaper bag- cleaning lady let me in my room.
  • carrying so many things and a woman offered to help carry some of my items to the car.
  • Waiter was just so observant and caring
  • People in the elevator just saying , hello and holding open the door.
They started the ripple effect, then I watched out for others who needed a hand too. 

This is the way Learning Stores work too.  We aren't sickly kind, we are just kind, and everyone appreciates that.

Staffing

We are happy to welcome Chris back with us today. We have sure missed him and are thrilled to have all our staff back with us after this break. 


Anne- High Level- Tuesday- Remember today is Tuesday
Wed- Fort Am - La Crete - parent teacher interviews
Thursday- High Level- parent teacher interviews
Friday- TBA.

Annelise is out today. No subs to be found. Chad will be in to help out. Thanks so much Chad.

What we need to get done:

  1. We need to do a call out for parent teacher interviews today. 
  2. We have to get our surveys done this week. We need as many as possible. Right now only one parent has filled out the survey and about ten kids from each location. We will catch many parents as we can on our parent teacher nights and rally the kids to complete it too. Surveys are our focus this week. 
  3. Diploma results should be in!! 
  4. Catching up with our kids is a priority this week. Each of you have kids who are yours. This week we reattach ourselves to them. Maybe I mean reconnect with them. he he he
  5. That is enough to do for 4 days. 
Have a super 4 day week. Alex is doing his cooking course today. I'm pretty sure I can smell the deliciousness from here!!

Report Card Week A terrific way to catch up with our kids, a time to think deeply about that student and where they are going. A teacher always asks themselves , how well do i know that student. If the answer is not well, we seek to get to know them better next semester. Report Cards are valuable to the student and their families and the process is so valuable to us. We can always do better.  Thank Yous Thanks  so much to all of you who took in the PD last week. From chatting with you my thoughts were the sessions were valuable.  Thanks  to all who are organizing the Wing Ding in High Level this Tuesday. Many local organizations are coming in to inform our students.  Thanks to all who made student contacts this week. Talking personally to our kids seems to make a difference.  Staffing We are close to hiring for the position in Fort. Speedy Memo

While on the airplane, I looked quizzically at the woman beside me wearing a mask... Ha! Turns out She knew germs were flying around that plane. Now, I have those sickness germs and she's partying somewhere! Note to self...masks look ridiculous but keep you germ-free!!!  Or perhaps the story goes this way... she had some horrible cold and it seeped out from her mask to infect me... Either way, she has a part to play in this mini illness, of that I am sure!   Lots going on this week- please remember that we are 1 week from May our kids need to pour it on these next few weeks.   Stanley Cup playoffs are continuing with just a few rounds to finish. Go Toronto, go Winnipeg!  Report cards are due Wed they go home on Friday. Parent-teacher interviews are happening in the weeks ahead. Those dates will be solidified this week.  PAT part A is in for grade nines. That is written middle of May. Nait comes to High Level. A counselor and two journeyman carpenters are coming to

This week in our CRM's we talked about our students and assigned actions to several. We are starting to figure this out;  people are coming forward to volunteer to do that action. In the past, we sat back waiting to see who might be assigned. Now, you are developing relationship with these students and are saying, " I can do that, I know her pretty well." or " I'd like to try to make contact with him, I have a soft spot for him."  That is the way CRM's are supposed to function, thank you for stepping up. CRM's ground us for the month to come. No kid is falling through the cracks without us grabbing his or her arm and trying to pulling him back on track. Wow! Cliche ville there! All English teachers are cringing!  Congratulations Congratulations to Eva, Bonnie, Dean and Jenine.
