It Hurts
We have become experts at knowing our kids. Knowing what they like, what worries them, what they wish for. We celebrate with them when things are going well. We also, suffer with them when things are bad.
One of our full-time students, Paris was diagnosed last week with Hodgkins Lymphoma a blood adrenal cancer, stage 3. They can't start cheemo as there are fishy spots on his lungs, and they don't like that at all. They want to check that out more.
We are wrapping around Paris and his family.
Needless to say we are devastated by this news. We would see him every day, he had a joke for us without fail. He made us laugh everyday! So now, we are going to text him jokes each day and bug him with jokes as he did us. The hospital staff will love him, he will be their blessing as he is ours.
Paris finished all of his grade 10 year by March so he is happy to not have to open a book while in hospital. He gets to play his video games!
We know our kids well and we celebrate with them, and sometimes we have to watch them in pain and that hurts.

Things to pretend to do this week
- Contact your students
- Be prepared for the CRM meeting this week, know what your students are up to.
- Time off- please enter it into atrieve if you have plans to take personal days etc...
- Make sure marking is up to date, EA's can help here with some CTS marking, are we okay here?
- GRADS- are they on track?
- There really are just 5 weeks for our kids to pour it on and get things done. When it gets hot work just doesn't come in! Carrying things over into next year will not be an option in many courses as we are updating many of our course materials. We have been behind by up to 14 years in some of our materials.
- EXPO Health and Post Secondary May 23rd. Accident simulation starts at 9:30. La Crete can you put in a bus request then we will pick up the fort kids. Will our kids go??? This is a great experience for all staff. Pretty sure we can put a sign on the door saying school on that day is a field trip to High level, I'll check with Mike. The information staff and students gain from Health Expo and the post secondary institutions will be very useful.
- Plan home visits for next week. We are dropping off a fruit basket
- Text a joke to Paris 780 926 0102
We do have celebrations
- Jennifer in Fort is coming to an end of the courses she is taking this term. We all know she is brilliant. She deserves some rest and relaxation!! She starts u again soon but hopes are she'll enjoy the week or two she has of freedom.
- Chad had a table at the trade show in La Crete- He met a few parents who might consider Northern Home and were with another provider.
- Our students in La Crete Luke and Trinity had a baby boy a few weeks ago. We are thrilled for them, a lovely little blessing! Linda i did get a gift to add to the package, I'll bring it Thursday.
- Another set of students in High Level had a baby boy as well. Tiea and Quinn were blessed with their baby boy on April 13th.
- Administrative assistants week was last week and it is also this week as I am catching up with Bonnie, Eva who do our backbone! Jennifer and Jenine I'm catching up with you too as you are the admin assistants in your buildings and run the show. Be sure to thank these fabulous ladies who make things happen for you! Without you ladies.... ( love this song, have a listen- pretty mushy)
