Yeah to our school division!!!

Making the decision to come back January 11th was brilliant, by Friday we will be half way through January, knowing this is seems freeing. Soon, we will be saying good bye to January and winter will be half gone. Thank you Mother Nature for allowing us to get out and enjoy these wintery days. At the moment, I can see 10 families on the skating loop in front of my house, a lovely way to spend a winters day. You deserved the extra few days this decision gave you, we are thankful for that hard decision.

Our kids are ready to get back to it. I have received several texts and calls as I know many of you have. You might even have been stopped at the grocery store or post office with questions about start up. We are prepared to teach and the students are ready to learn.

Staffing

I am working right up until Feb 5th. Many Thanks to Chad for going it alone in December. Appreciate all you do Chad.

Everyone else is in on their regular schedules.

Huge Virtual Hugs

To the team in High Level who delivered 53 Christmas bags. Our students who received one were so thankful. This was a fabulous year for those who could, to reach out and assist those who were struggling. Such a lovely group of people reaching out to others. Bonnie, Holly and Leah made sure 53 families had a little brighter Christmas. So many blessings.

What Is Happening This Week?

* We are reconnecting with students, families this week.

* Diplomas were to be happening. I received a call for a student who said they wanted to write... we will wait and see who decides to actually write.

* LTM is next Monday morning

* Testing for students who require it is happening this month. Dean is doing La Crete's students I am doing High Level's.

* Wellness sessions will be scheduled this month. High Level's first session is on sleep. What should be call it? Get Your ZZZZ's or Tired of Counting Sheep?? La Crete's first session will be decided on this week with Leah assisting.

* Grad letters will be sent out soon.

* Report crads are coming due at the end of the month. Please be sure to put your comments in the correct spot for them to show up on the report card. Pacing is huge, students need to be keeping the pace of a module a week.

* Marking of modules takes place within a one week span. This is a must, if there is a reason you can not get it marked in that time slot I want to know. Kids move forward when we give feedback, we give them feedback through marking their work.

* New Year- Do you have everything you need/we need to start the new year. Let us know if there are things we need to consider purchasing, thinking about, planning for. Bonnie and Iwill be going over the budget this week and will keep you informed as to how we are doing.

* Action in High Level- there will be a crew working inside the track staking out a proposed field house/ multipurpose facility. That area is just behind the school there may be some noise.

* Students are all back to school Monday the 11th this includes High School kids. Our covid guidelines are still in place. If people are ill they do not come to work, unless they have a preexisting condition ie allergies, etc...

* Listening- we had 19 days away. For our kids those were not all great days. Get ready to listen... families are dealing with finanicial pressures, mental illness and for many addictions. Children are not a priority when families are struggling, especially teenagers. We aren't interviewing kids the first day back but we are opening our ears and looking for opportunities to listen. Our first week will be a busy one.

We all love what we do, or we wouldnbt be doing it. Thanks educators for being there for each other and for your students and their families. We are in a position to help move our kids forward, to motivate them, to assist them through a tough module, to get them over humps. We are ready.

  1. I appreciate the 2 solid weeks this year. Here's to hoping the division can adopt this type of schedule in the years to come for the holiday season :)
