Hello May
Welcome May, we've been awaiting your arrival. You bring with you; blue jays, grumpy geese and swans!!! Puddles, rainstorms and glimpses of green are normal now. Even the arctic air can't keep Spring from us.
A Very happy Mother's Day to all you Mamma's out there. Once a momma always a momma. They may turn 16, 33 or 40, but those kids will always be our kids no matter what age. If your Momma is still here on earth, call out to her, you are so very blessed to be able to speak to your Mom. My Mom was just diagnosed with alzheimers disease, we had seen the signs, this solidified what we feared. We will charish each day, hope you cherish each day with your Mom.
Happy Mother's Day hugs to you all.
Then, I am not in for the next 2 weeks and return after the long weekend. ( I need to use up my flex days or I work for free, I am kind but not that kind.) I adjusted that as Chad also wanted to take a cluster of days after the May long weekend.
Steve has a medical on the 7th and 10th in GP and I have a dental surgery in Edm on the 18th. I will be working on line attending the Leadership meeting on the afternoon on May 13th. I will be available on line for grad enquires as well. (Those poor grads, nothing is finalized.)
This week, Chad is at Northlands school for Monday and Tuesday.
Leah is out Monday PM.
Eva is out The 13th Asencion Day.
A reminder to all to review the covid protocols page before coming to work.
Do not come in if you are sick or do not know that it is allergies or any other pre-existing condition etc...
What's Up
* Each location hosted a Wellness session on Anxiety this month. The next issue students idenitfied was depression and drugs and alcohol use- self harm. We will see who we can get to present this session for us.
* High Level's building will be moving between the High School and FMCS. That is a new location. We will be in by September 1st. Bonus we will have air conditioning.
* Challengers are completing their challenges to be able to grad. They need to get them done ASAP.
* Herman Wiebe one our students in La Crete just finished a RAP program in welding. That is huge.
* High Level added another grad to our list that is exciting, Diandra Nanooch.
*We are six weeks away from the end of theschool year. So much can be done in that six weeks. Remember in the hot weather we will lose these kids, so push them now.
* Be aware - Crystal discovered that the online site Course Hero has all answers to our core courses on there. If it reads to good to be true it just might be. Each location can take a peek at it. There is a 10 dollar a month subcription fee.
* Both location had their CRMs. Now time to do the actions identified in the meeting. There are some kids who need us to reach out to them. When we do we often find that there has been some turmoil in the family.
Dates to Remember
May 7th PD day- We will engage over our Ed Plan- we will also have subject meetings to go over courses and what we know about Course Hero. The day starts at 9:00 and goes until 3:00. The subject meetimngs will start first at 10:00 with you making contact with your partner in crime. At 1:00 we will then go over the Ed Plan on a Google call I will initate. I am doing this from GP as Steve just got the call that he has another appt this Friday at 8:30 am. Geesh!! These appointments all relate to diabetes and our wish to get him an insulin pump, however, there are obviously a few barriers to overcome first.
June 11th, 2021- deadline to submit work- they can hand it in after but the guaruntee of it being marked before report cards is not there.
June 18th is our school closing date. Students should return all materials by that date.
June 21 to 25 are PD days for us. We are going to update our courses and attempt to do a few on line versions of our courses with the help of Scot Mckenzie. High Level is going to pack up too.
May 31st is the last day to resign your position.
Personal days- we hope you have planned to use yours and have entered them into atrieve.
Here is a really nice Meaningful May activity calendar sent out by our Wellness Team. I will send the larger version out to you as well. This would be great for students as well as we continue with our wellness focus.
Enjoy your week. This is a week to get ahead.
