Our First Full Week

Good day y'all!

We are entering into our first full week. Being back with the kids feels great. I can sense that they are ready to get going, are ready for normalcy and so are we. 

We've started students with soft courses, after building their grad plans we will start them on the cores. Core courses will be started this week.  Please be aware of the students plans. If he she want to pursue a tougher trade often science 10 needed. We have been giving science 14/24  out often. Please be sure the course satisfies their goals. 

Huge high five to our High Level Team who have been dealing with construction for the passed two weeks. We can't wait for it all to be done. 

Huge high five to the La Crete team who had 29 people at their orientation. Those students are so well supported by their parents, it was great to see that. Alex did a great job of presenting! We had 4 people in High Level, disappointing forsure. 

La Crete and High level are both sitting at 34/35 students. Those numbers are high for the first week. We are not at projections but will be by the end of September. 

Thank you for a calm, cool start. The LTM is on Thursday and I will be able to give you more information about division numbers then. 



Staffing

Anne is out on Monday- going to steve medical appts (2) in GP. Will be back Monday night. 

Anne and Chad and Sean are out to LTM on Thursday in Fort. 

Anne is going to La Crete on Wednesday.

Anne is out for three days next week 20,21,22 I am having a dental surgery in Edmonton. Fun thing is Crystal is having a dental surgery that day in Edm too!!! Wild. Allan is covering for her. Thanks Allan. 

Welcome back to Amanda who was out all last week. So glad she is feeling better.

Happy belated birthday to Annelise! Aren't birthdays fun!!

 


What Have We got Going on This Week

  • Hard scheduling CRM's and Some of our CTS courses will happen this week. 
  • My schedule for the next three months will come out.
  • Last years budget will be finalized.
  • High Level may have a fence built by the weeks end. 
  • Calling all graphic designers, High Level requires a sign to be designed, if you have an ideas please share it with us. 
  • Wellness sessions will be scheduled after we ask students to fill out a needs survey. The survey will come out next week. We want to know what issues (topics) they'd like us to arrange info sessions for. 
  • Phones- we are all learning how to use these wonky new phones, so far Eva and Bonnie have it figured out. Seek them out if you have questions. 
  • Tuesday at 1:00 High Level will meet with their upfgraders to support them in their choices. We will put together plans for completeion and delve into career paths. 
  • Kudos to Leah a student is returning and is seeking assistance with his resume to seek the job of educational assistant. The kids know we will support them in reaching for their goals. 
  • This is the week we solve the systems problems we are having. The little things that make work tough can be tweaked to benefit ourselves and the students. Please pass your ideas on so we can tweak the process. In High Level we did a simple thing, we moved our LA and Social texts over to our side. There a quick fix that makes things easier. Thanks Allan and Crystal.

Report Card Week A terrific way to catch up with our kids, a time to think deeply about that student and where they are going. A teacher always asks themselves , how well do i know that student. If the answer is not well, we seek to get to know them better next semester. Report Cards are valuable to the student and their families and the process is so valuable to us. Speedy Memo

While on the airplane, I looked quizzically at the woman beside me wearing a mask... Ha! Turns out She knew germs were flying around that plane. Now, I have those sickness germs and she's partying somewhere! Note to self...masks look ridiculous but keep you germ-free!!!  Or perhaps the story goes this way... she had some horrible cold and it seeped out from her mask to infect me... Either way, she has a part to play in this mini illness, of that I am sure!   Lots going on this week- please remember that we are 1 week from May our kids need to pour it on these next few weeks.   Stanley Cup playoffs are continuing with just a few rounds to finish. Go Toronto, go Winnipeg!  Report cards are due Wed they go home on Friday. Parent-teacher interviews are happening in the weeks ahead. Those dates will be solidified this week.  PAT part A is in for grade nines. That is written middle of May. Nait comes to High Level. A counselor and two journeyman carpenters are coming to

This week in our CRM's we talked about our students and assigned actions to several. We are starting to figure this out;  people are coming forward to volunteer to do that action. In the past, we sat back waiting to see who might be assigned. Now, you are developing relationship with these students and are saying, " I can do that, I know her pretty well." or " I'd like to try to make contact with him, I have a soft spot for him."  That is the way CRM's are supposed to function, thank you for stepping up. CRM's ground us for the month to come. No kid is falling through the cracks without us grabbing his or her arm and trying to pulling him back on track. Wow! Cliche ville there! All English teachers are cringing!  Congratulations Congratulations to Eva, Bonnie, Dean and Jenine.
