Batch it!

My new phrase is, Batch it! 

I have downloaded a new app entitled, Blinkist. It summarizes  a book into about 8 minutes. It gives me a chance to decide whether I'd like to read that book or not. Sapiens is one book summary I listened to.  That is a book I would like to read in its entirety. If you spread your arms out wide to envision the history of the world, where would you imagine people came into existence? At your right elbow, your left shoulder? Guess.

Actually you'd need a microscope on the end of your finger to see when humaity began. Isn't that wild. 

Another book book about organizing your life talked of "Batching it." He said he really doesn't like to work hard all the time, so he  , " BATCHES IT." Sets the timer for 42 minutes and goes hard at an activity with no interruptions. He then takes a 12 minute break then goes back at it for another 42 minutes uniterrupted. He does his hard work in batches. Early morning is when you have the most energy to batch it, Friday at 3:30 is a tough time to batch it. 

There are many more apps out there that can enlighten you and keep you learning.

What is Up and Coming

Report Cards are due in to me on February 1st. There will be time to work on them Jan 31st pm, hopes are they would be done by then as you can be commenting as you put in the marks for that student. Please be sure to continue to personalize your comments as some schools aren't doing that, Thank goodness we always have. 

Grade 9 PATS in La Crete start Thursday. None of our kids in High Level are ready for their PATS yet. 

Jan 31 Pd Day. Morning is the session on Gender and Sexual Identity in Youth. Each community has students who struggle with this. It's important we are aware and play a positive role in the lives of these students. EA's can take this in and be paid for the morning if you wish. Just let me know. 

Many thanks to Alex for starting our month off right with the Korean workshops. The courses he built were exceptional. Thanks to holly as well she built a new Tourism courses on conventions an conferences tourism. Ut is a greayt additioon to the tourism courses we offer. Thanks Holly and Alex for those courses. 

CRM next week in High Level on the 26th. We have been in touch with many parents which will assist us in making progress with our kids. La Crete's CRM is on January 31st right after the session. During lunch if that' s okay.  I will video link in. 

Marks in- We must get our marks in for our diploma students asap. Challengers marks must be in, please be sure to double triple check this so no student is left off and disappointed.

Report Card Week A terrific way to catch up with our kids, a time to think deeply about that student and where they are going. A teacher always asks themselves , how well do i know that student. If the answer is not well, we seek to get to know them better next semester. Report Cards are valuable to the student and their families and the process is so valuable to us. Speedy Memo

While on the airplane, I looked quizzically at the woman beside me wearing a mask... Ha! Turns out She knew germs were flying around that plane. Now, I have those sickness germs and she's partying somewhere! Note to self...masks look ridiculous but keep you germ-free!!!  Or perhaps the story goes this way... she had some horrible cold and it seeped out from her mask to infect me... Either way, she has a part to play in this mini illness, of that I am sure!   Lots going on this week- please remember that we are 1 week from May our kids need to pour it on these next few weeks.   Stanley Cup playoffs are continuing with just a few rounds to finish. Go Toronto, go Winnipeg!  Report cards are due Wed they go home on Friday. Parent-teacher interviews are happening in the weeks ahead. Action

This week in our CRM's we talked about our students and assigned actions to several. We are starting to figure this out;  people are coming forward to volunteer to do that action. In the past, we sat back waiting to see who might be assigned. Now, you are developing relationship with these students and are saying, " I can do that, I know her pretty well." or " I'd like to try to make contact with him, I have a soft spot for him."  That is the way CRM's are supposed to function, thank you for stepping up. CRM's ground us for the month to come. No kid is falling through the cracks without us grabbing his or her arm and trying to pulling him back on track. Wow! Cliche ville there! All English teachers are cringing!  Congratulations Congratulations to Eva, Bonnie, Dean and Jenine.
