March Monday Blog

Wow, what temperatures! Spring is wanting to arrive, I can feel her in the air! It is light until about 8:00 now. Please note that on Friday we had two little people who had fits and when we put them in the room they slept soundly for a couple of hours. The growliness and the grumpiness aren't planned, these kids are just tired. I'm owly when I'm tired, kids aren't any different. Got a grumpy kid, try having him/her come for a little nap and see if that will get them back to learning.

Staffing

We welcome back an integral part of out staff, Shane. It's never okay when one of us is out. We feared we may lose him for the year, thankfully that isn't the case ( this week). We're so fortunate to have you back, the kids have been asking for you, staff and parents too. Especially, Mrs. Ried!

Braedyn is in for the library- Monday and Tuesday

Perry is in for Marvin Monday and Tuesday.

Sheena Pittman is in for Michelle on Monday.

Eve Lyne Gauthier is in for me Monday- She is a new arrival to High Level please welcome her. We will have her in Valyne's classroom for the day just to warm her up to our school. Valyne could use a hand with Luke and Sean and William. Now all this will change if someone calls in sick- fingers crossed Valyne. You will notice an accent Eve is from Quebec and is bilingual.

It's dance competition week.

Kim is out on Wednesday and Thursday- Crystal is in
Amber is out Wed, Thurs, Friday. Our Sara is in.
Shane is out Thursday morn to deliver the CATs to central-

Events/ happenings /focuses

Family math night is taking place on Wednesday evening. If you want to learn more about math this is the night to come to the school to take mini courses.

Staff meeting date is 19th. We get out early that day. COP for math has grade fours doing some teaching to staff about math. Hopes are Susan and Tasha will talk about the PD they have been taking in with Geri.

Literacy writing showcase- All students ( we will try for all)  will have a piece of writing handed in to Kitty of Heather by this Friday. Go down the  hallways and take a look at some of the writing there. That's what we'd like handed in to Kitty. The writing is presented very well. The kids are so proud of their writing.

Gala- mini auditions will take place Tuesday at noon. Final auditions will take place Wed and Thursday. Kids are really hyped about this.

Student council meeting Monday at Noon.

School Wide Blog is up and running. Andrew put a due date on that email. What a great conversation with your kids that will be.

Gee we really appreciate that

We really appreciate the help all of you offered when we had so many people out this week. Without a whine/ or a complaint you gladly offered assistance. That is admirable, thanks again! So are so happy everyone is healthier now and on the mend.

Social committee- Thank you so much for the organization of the Potluck. Having the food on the workroom table was genius! Thanks for pulling us together. The food was fabulous especially that Japanese salad!!

Thank you to Debbie who has so many groups going I cant keep them straight. I've had a chance to sit in on a few of them and the character building messages are clear and so needed by our kids. We need to teach kids how to be great people. It doesn't just happen, we need to teach them. This Friday Megan and Debbie did an after school Positively Me session. Just when we are absolutely spent on a Friday, these two ladies are running a group with 8 energetic 9-12 year olds!! Brave ladies I say!!

Thanks to all who are doing breakfast club. Our grade fives said in a survey by the U of A that none of them skip breakfast, That is thanks to all who help with that program.
