Geese Know What They Are Doing!!!

Good day everyone!

Today as I stood on my deck, I watched a flock of geese overhead.  They were flying along at great speed. Behind them was one lonely little goose who seemed to be working twice as hard as the others. I felt sorry for the guy. Then I noticed the leader of the gaggle making the group curve a couple of times, allowing that little goose, to catch right up to them. The leader didn't stop everyone and say, "hey, let's wait up for the slow poke!" He/she gracefully flew a couple of swerves to get that guy caught up. It was the coolest thing to watch.
I must say I liken that experience to watching you guys in action over the past two weeks. I have heard such words of encouragement. I have heard you ask, " will you be hear tomorrow?" I have seen the gentle prodding you do. I have noticed the welcoming atmosphere of each school.  I must thank you for leading your gaggle in the gentle way that leader did this morning!

Congratulations:

Congratulations to High level and La Crete Learning Stores who set up booths for Get to Know You Night. The purpose was to inform people of the unique offerings at our learning stores. You succeeded with that goal. I sure had fun at both those events. It is so cool meeting new people. Thank you all for the time you put into those events. Thanks to Bonnie for getting us all the cool swag and the display boards.

Congratulations to Bonnie and Holly on a successful weekend with the scrap-bookers. They raised money for HLLS breakfast program. We know many of our kids have poor nutrition, when we intervene with healthy food their brains engage. If you have a fundraising idea let us run with it.

Congratulations to Zama school they just got a Ping Pong table. Now when the buffalo are occupying the playground the kids can play table tennis.

What We Need To Know:

Thursday is a staff meeting day. We are going to do a teleconference for about thirty minutes. I will send out instructions for that hook up. Next time we will be able to google hangout and see each other.

Fort and Rainbow have their Get To Know You Nights on the same day! Darn it!! I will be attending Rainbow's with Jenine. can't wait to meet new people! Julie and hopefully Alex will be attending Fort's on Wednesday night. I hear Fort does a really great job of theirs.

Zama will be having a meet the teacher meet the principal gathering in the weeks ahead.

PD sessions for the October outreach conference are on line. Please choose from them, we will compare at staff meeting to see that we get a great variety among us. We can relay what we learned over supper.

PGP's are due this week. Please just email them to me.

Budget- I will be inquiring with Norman about the budget for the Learning Stores as it sits we are about $18,000 in the hole. I will ask for clarification on that. Zama's budget came out even. Yeah!!

Staff meeting discussion- student recognition programs- Please present ideas to us at that time. I know some of you have been thinking about this a lot lately.

Student numbers - Zama's numbers are up by one.

Learning store numbers are down as of now but we all know that the trickle effect comes to play at the learning stores and I am confident kids will find us.

Staffing

Petra is out on Monday - Evelyn is in. She speaks French!! She will need a little orientation and will be able to assist in any way possible.

I am in Zama on Monday. Tuesday is High Level. Wednesday is Fort for a Leadership meeting but Rainbow in the evening. Thinking I will stay in Rainbow over night and meet the morning kids the next day. Then drive to High Level for staff meeting. I have put 3700 kms on that vehicle  in two weeks and already had it in the shop once. I am learning to like my singing and have seen an otter, eagle and am waiting to see a Buffalo.

Again please let me know if you are going to be away as I need time to arrange subs.

Keeping on honking everyone! Enjoy your very short week.

Anne

  2. I will miss the six week break from daddy duty-changing diapers and everything else in Vancouver thanks to the baby's grandparents, uncles and aunts; it was the family's first time to see the baby.

  3. I will miss having a cabin and a camper full of young people playing every kind of beer game they know or can create, tackling huge jigsaw puzzles, eating enormous amounts of food, laughing non-stop, and leaving total chaos in their wake for the "old fogies" to sigh over after they have gone. It's worth it just to have them there in the first place!
