Persistence Pays Off
Happy Momma's day to all of you Mommies out there! Such a great day to touch base with your kids. marc called me and he had good news.
My boy Marc, who couldn't spell " fix," ( he was 21 when he asked me how to spell fix) just received his second class power engineering designation. There were numerous teachers who wanted to repeat him because he was a terrible reader, he still is, however that guy can work the numbers. He also does much better reading manuals that pertain to his area of interest than a novel. What Marc did have was family support and a Mom who wouldn't let people say he is cured of his dyslexia. He has learned coping mechanisms but a kid/adult with dyslexia will always have dyslexia, that is the way their brain is wired. It took him 4 tries for that very last test. He got discouraged, angry and frustated yet he finally prevailed! I'm telling you this story because there are kids out there who learn the same way he does. Those kids are in our schools. They don't all have rabid parents like Marc does but they do have staff who truly believe they can learn. Often it takes sitting with them to guide them through. Whatever it takes we will do.
Long weekend coming up. There are several people extending this four day holiday for various reasons.

What's Going On
Pat part A is done. Thank you to all who took part in that test administration.
Thursday is an early dismissal. in High level we will do a CRM. In other locations this would be a great time to make contact with kids we haven't seen or heard from.
Ed Plan- I am redoing the Ed Plan using the divisions new goals of improving literacy, improving numeracy and building connectivity in all schools. I'm taking the info we got from our March meeting and applying it to this plan. Should be done this week.
Met with Dean Wheeler and Chad Fyke on Thursday. It was great learning more about home schooling. Looking forward to meeting many families next year.
Thanks to La Crete and High Level staff who held parent teacher interviews. Our numbers were low which means fruit basket drop offs are a better idea in May.
Diplomas- by now we should have asked our students whether they are writing digitally in June. Is there a student who requires accomodations? If so we need to get rolling with that send me an email please.
Grad deadline- 90% by May 25th. This is the week to contact our kids as next week is very short. This is crunch week.
Have an excellent week. Enjoy!
