That felt Like Summer!!!

Sure enjoyed our little four day holiday where the sun shone, we spent all day outdoors and we felt that intense heat.. felt like summer holidays! I had to tell myself to get out of bed and get back into work mode this morning. Summer holidays are only 6 weeks away, I must be patient and not wish the time away. This is the best time of the year, when we get to celebrate with our grads and savor the results of our hounding, poking, prodding and encouraging. Enjoy the celebration of having assisted our students in getting to graduation. Summer is almost here.

Please take note that this is a 3 day week. Today is Wednesday. These short weeks mess us up.

Thank yous

Huge thanks go out to Janet and Rae. They have organized items in Zama school and it looks fabulous. All items need to be taken out of the portables and redistributed, they are doing a beautiful job of clearing and organizing items. We are leaving some preschool and early years materials in case families with young kids want to use these items. An article outlining the school division's stance appeared in the ECHO last week.

Thanks goes to Holly and Bonnie who volunteered for the Community Gardens BBQ on Friday. That group made $750. It was a very busy afternoon for them.

Thanks to Holly who watered the gardens on Sunday. Our garden is looking great. Can't wait for all our crops to go in and to reap the benefits of fresh produce.

Thanks to all who are arranging year end celebrations. It is as important to end the year well. These final gatherings help us to do that with grace and honor. We get to recognize student accomplishments and let staff know how much we value all that they do. I am asking my grand baby to arrive after all of these gatherings. We will see if this baby listens.

Congratulations to Jenine, members of the community in Rainbow have recognized her dedication to students and have nominated Learning Stores for an awards in Climate and Culture as well as Student Supports. Three community members wrote eloquent letters of praise for Learning Stores. Congratulations everyone for all you do each day, the community recognizes how cool our schools are. Thanks so much Jenine for putting kids first in your Rainbow Learning Store, the community notices.

Congratulations to all who are receiving Long Service awards. The awards dinner is this Friday evening.

Darren Froese- 5 years
Alex- 5 years
Paul- 5 years
Jenine- 10 years

Big drum roll, Eric and Janet are retiring this year. We recognize all their years of service and are thrilled that they are starting new adventures.

For those not attending the dinner we will present your awards to you next week.

Pretty Exciting

Jenine's daughter Alayna is getting married in three months.

Eva's daughter Raelene is graduating in two weeks.

Rick is in High Level now, so no more long distances for Holly, for a bit anyway.

Instruction and Programming

Digital diploma writers- Please organize that piece. Each student writing should be asked if they are going to write digitally. It is very easy for us to organize that for them. Please fill out the form for your school indicating who is writing digitally.
Thanks.

Amazing Race in High Level this Friday. Students from Spirit of the North will be doing an Amazing Race in the Outdoor classroom of the school. We are hoping they can do some work for us that afternoon, while having fun.

90 % Work Completion date for grad students is May 25 th. Please contact me if you have a student you are concerned about.

June 15th is our date to have work handed in by so teachers can mark and get report cards done by year end. Please relay these important dates to students.

Summer diplomas- Allan Spelrem and I will be supervising summer diplomas in August.
Students and walkins on line registrants are welcome to do these writings.

Thanks you to all who tried your best to take your personal days etc... in a timely manner. It sure helps with the June rush. Having said that...( here I go breaking rules)  when my grand baby is born, I will be using my two days in lieu and  my personal day. The waiting game begins.
