Just a Little Survey...
The things you find out if you just ask...
We had a family meeting in High level on Thursday night. 6 people showed. In a survey at the end, we asked. Why do you want your child to graduate? The prevalent answer was to make the family proud then to achieve a successful career.
To make the family proud.... That is great info for us. When we speak to kids that may be our in... your graduating will make your family so proud. If bit makes us proud imagine how it makes the family feel! We are so lucky to be involved with students at the end of their schooling!!
Thank yous
I thank you all for a lovely start to the school year. Numbers are way up from last year except for Zama. But I always dream that a family of 10 will move in! We are lovely busy not bad busy!! That is good.
Thank you to Bonnie and Holly who have begun a nutrition morning breakfast and hot lunch schedule. Our hopes are to instill healthy eating and life skills.
Thank you to Darren who started the Google sessions in La Crete. Students need these skills.
Thank you to Jenine, Levi and Mark who are for the most part balancing things on their own daily. You do it with grace and are moving the students forward. We so thank you for that.
Thanks to Petra who led our parent evening on Thursday night. She gave parents a low down on grad expectations. It was very well received.
Thanks to Janet for arranging for our new custodian in Zama. Raye is fabulous!!
Many thanks to Paul who assisted all students in Social and English this week. His calm, cool manner is exactly what those kids needed.
Thanks to Eva, Darren, Lisa, and Alex who are balancing a new set of kids from Blue Hills. We've had some bumps forsure yet you have solved all problems easily and with grace. We know there will be a few more glitches to come but no worries.
Thanks to Lisa for starting the recognition and reward system in Blue Hills. The shelf looks great and students are using it.

Instruction and Programming
Headstrong conference Oct 16th. La Crete is taking a contingent of students. Alex is supervising. Mark is taking all Zama students. I will assign a staff member from High Level if our kids are going, there are two potentials.
Chromebooks and Computers- Well not much movement here, I'm not pushing anymore, let's just wait. So use what we have for now. The only thing I can possibly think of is that our usage was looked at and perhaps the computers aren't being used. Just be sure kids are taking them out and signing on to them daily. Every computer should be signed into daily. This issue will get figured out in time, no worries. Thank goodness we are a patient lot...
PGP's are due right away. I have to upload them. I have met with two teachers so far.
Report cards go out November 17th. Parent Teacher interview dates need to be decided on in each location. Let me know what you decide.
High Level forestry expo- November 23rd. John Thurston is organizing this.
La Crete Forestry expo Nov 21st. John Thurston is organizing this.
MyPASS and Student portal- The next two weeks will be our blast at this... Each student should be signed into Mypass and student portal. Bonnie will get the instructions out to you. We empower kids when they can take charge of their own education. These programs are ways of doing that. Each location that signs up 75% of their kids, gets a free lunch brought in.
One week window- For a year now we have been returning materials to students within a one week window. The expectation is that we are still handing materials back in that time frame. Students do want to know how they did before they continue with another module. That is motivation for them to do better or try harder and ask more questions.
