Listen

Image
Just Listen to your heart.  Allow yourself to feel, without entering the political realm. Children went to school, did not return home to their families. Children died.  Read, listen, feel.  Respect, support, feel.  No words.  No words. Only tears that fall to your heart.   Flags are flying at half mast in school division buildings today. Trustees would like to honor the discovery of 215 children at the site of the Kamloops Residential School, who never made it home. Flags will stay at half mast for 215 hours, an hour for each of the 215 children.  The school division stands in support of our local communities who continue to heal from the impact of residential schools.  Important this week Connectivity survey - This must be done in each location by Wednesday this week. The division keeps track of who has done it and who hasn't. 3 students have taken the survey. I know we have more than three students. Please have students do it today, tomorrow an...

Today is Wednesday May 26th Looking to the future... In one month you will be free.  In one month your worries will be few. In one month you and your family will be the only thing on your agenda.  In one month summer will arrive. In one month flowers will be in full bloom. In one month you will have plans outside of school. In one month you will know that you rocked this year. You will know that kids learned from you. You will know that kids are moving on, and are better for having met you.  Such a great way to start a summer break.  Staffing We must take a minute to thank central for creating a calendar this year which worked well for staff. This extra day off attached to a long weekend was brilliant. The days Mike gave us were so needed. He looked after us with this year's calendar. Next year's calendar is awaiting the decision by the ATA as to whether the convention is in person or not next year.   Chad is out for the rest of this week. Enjoy your time w...

Hello May

Image
Welcome May, we've been awaiting your arrival. You bring with you; blue jays, grumpy geese and swans!!! Puddles, rainstorms and glimpses of green are normal now. Even the arctic air can't keep Spring from us.  A Very happy Mother's Day to all you Mamma's out there. Once a momma always a momma. They may turn 16, 33 or 40, but those kids will always be our kids no matter what age. If your Momma is still here on earth, call out to her, you are so very blessed to be able to speak to your Mom. My Mom was just diagnosed with alzheimers disease, we had seen the signs, this solidified what we feared. We will charish each day, hope you cherish each day with your Mom.  Happy Mother's Day hugs to you all.  Staffing I am in this week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and a bit Friday.  Then, I am not in for the next 2 weeks and return after the long weekend. ( I need to use up my flex days or I work for free, I am kind but not that kind.) I adjusted that as Chad also wanted to ...

Last Week of April

We  build character with our students. This anonymous piece of writing resonated with me. Would be great to hang somewhere for our kids to read, the bathroom perhaps.  If you're thankful, show it. If you love someone, tell them. If you are wrong fess up. If you're confused, ask a question. If you learm something, teach others. If you are stuck, ask for help. If you make a mistake, apologize. If you trip , get back up. If someone needs help, help them. If you see wrong take a stance. Some Notes *Grads-  Our grads are in limbo right now. Just waiting to see what outdoor numbers will be for gatherings. If they are confused and worried, we can't eliviate that for a bit yet.  * All High Level Schools have clsses that are out, we are still running normally in High Level. The students who did have covid had not been into the school, phew.  Everyone gets a turn, keep our fingers crossed that we skip this turn, pass go and collect $500.  * Had the opportunity to get...

Two Wild Weeks

Image
We have two wild weeks to get kids moving on their courses.  A fter that, many things will come into play; spring fever, added daylight, more time outdoors with friends, working more and small trips south. You see... school may fall in the list of priorities. So much can be accomplished in a short time span. Let's let the kids know this. Completing in the next two weeks takes the pressure off when we return from Easter break.  When thinking of ourselves, we know we can make it to March 26th with grace.  We can get so much accomplished in 10 working days. We can cross things off our lists, we can plan for our 10 day break, we can find things that bring us joy, we can connect with others. We've got this.  Thank you so much Thanks so much for seeing kids in distress and assisting them. Once you engage with that student you will be able to make a decision as to whether they need to be referred or just need you to keep checking in. Thank you for being aware. Dean did a mu...
